Skin Analysis & Drugstore Skincare – Advertorial

Over the past couple of years my knowledge of beauty and skincare has expanded further than I ever thought it would. My skin was relatively clear as a teenager, and as such I didn’t pay too much attention to skincare. I used an eclectic combination of whichever basic drugstore skincare was currently on offer and went on my life. Sure I had the occasional break out here and there, but it was never anything serious – never anything that didn’t pass in a few days. My elder brother on the other hand, did have acne as a teenager, and low and behold the genes finally caught up with me in my twenties.

When La Roche-Posay offered me the chance to visit one of the leading dermatologists in London – Dr Stefanie Willams at Eudelo, I jumped at the chance. I’m always interested in learning more about acne, treatments and skincare and I knew that with Dr Stefanie I’d be in good hands.

I brought along some of the skincare products I’d been currently using, and we spoke about my lifestyle as well as any skin complaints I had. Dr Stefanie first analysed my skin using a magnifying lamp, and then took me to through the high tech approach and analysed my skin using the Visia Skin complexion analysis machine. We then discussed a skincare regime using solely affordable skincare from La Roche-Posay that would work for me. Skincare is difficult to get right for sensitive skin, which is why La Roche-Posay has a unique tolerance testing method on 450 people with sensitive skin – if just one person reacts, they go back to reformulation.

A product I hadn’t considered adding into my routine before was an anti-ageing cream. I was recommended the La Roche-Posay Redermic R which is an anti ageing concentrate containing 0.3% retinol. The Redermic R is designed to correct the appearance of wrinkles, uneven skin tone and premature sun damage. The cream itself is incredibly silky, and easy to wear. It feels light, glides across the skin on application and I actually found that it didn’t irritate my skin despite the retinol . I’m hoping it can help correct some of the UV damage my skin is suffering from, and I’m hopeful that on my next derm appointment – I’ll see a difference in my skin analysis after using it alongside a good SPF.
The La Roche-Posay SPF50 Anthelios XL is a product which has quickly found it’s way into my favourites list for the fact that is contains a high amount of sun protection without feeling heavy, or greasy on my skin – which is a rareity.

Another product on my recommendation list from Dr Stefanie williams, is the La Roche-Posay Puryifying Micellar Water. At morning time, I’d gently cleanse my skin and sweep some of the Micellar water onto my skin using a fresh cotton pad for a simple fuss free cleanse. It feels cooling, non sticky and super convenient. Micellar water is fascinating because it can remove makeup, dirt and and grime without the need for rinsing afterwards, which makes it great for those sleepy Monday mornings where you’d rather be in bed. It takes it’s name from Micelles – miniscule round balls of cleansing molecules which are suspended in water and act like magnets – clinging to the dirt and grime and taking it away with them in one clean sweep!

I tried a whole variety of products from La Roche-Posay, and if you’d like to hear about some of the other products I tried, then be sure to watch my review video below.
