Hi Makeup Geeks! As you all know, every year around the holidays I go on my search for the best makeup palettes. I review each of them individually, then at the end I pick my favorite one of the year. I love this time of year, from the Starbucks holiday coffee to the decorations and palettes, I love it! Not to mention the makeup…:-)
Today we are going to be looking at Smashbox “Master Class” palette.
I really dislike giving bad reviews on anything, but to be honest I was horribly disappointed in this packaging. Let’s start with the outside. It comes in a book form made from cardboard. The outside has a silver finish that was to me very reminiscent of a bad disco ball. I was not a fan of this at all. Unfortunately, things went from bad to worse. When I opened the palette I discovered the binding inside was completely cracked at least half way down the middle. There was also a small crack on the right side and some of the shadows were coming out. There are several reviews on Sephora of people having the same exact problem. You get 28; .04 ounce eyeshadows, 4; .03 ounce gel liners (can also be used as an eyeshadow base), 4 blushes, 2 bronzer and 2 highlighters all at .09 ounces. For the price you do get a great amount of product. The only other thing is I am not a fan of having any cream products in a palette that contains powder as it always transfers. However, this does come with a plastic protector which will also help if you plan to travel with this.
Hi Makeup Geeks! As you all know, every year around the holidays I go on my search for the best makeup palettes. I love this time of year not only for the season and the feeling that comes with it but it gives me a good excuse to shop! 🙂
The palette we will be looking at today is the Kat Von D “Spellbinding Eyeshadow Book”
The packaging is a thin, sleek cardboard palette that opens like a book. The front cover is a penciled design in black and white- very Kat Von D inspired! It opens to reveal 24 shades with 12 of them being new. The left side of the inside palette has 3 eyeshadow ideas, “The Natural State”, “The After Hours”, “The Spellbinder”, each of which can be recreated with the shades in the palette. the palette is organized in pairs with each shade suppose to compliment each other. Each shade is 0.05 ounce which is the normal amount in a shadow. It does come with a plastic overlay to protect the shadows when you travel but I know for some this is more of an aggravation but it can be easily cut away. The price on this is great for the amount of shades you get. I love how easy this is to take for travel as it’s super lightweight and sleek.
Included in this palette are 24 eyeshadows ranging in several colors and finishes. There are 3 matte finish shadows, and 21 metallic/shimmer shadows. Overall this is very good quality with only a few of them being somewhat powdery. The majority of the shades were very creamy and easy to apply and adhered to the skin very well. They also blended well and had stunning pigmentation. My only downside to this palette is there should have been a few more neutral shadows to balance out all the colors- this way you don’t have to bring extra shadows if you travel with this palette.

Hello Makeup Geeks! As you all know, every year around the holidays I go on my search for the best makeup palettes. I review each of them individually, then at the end I pick my favorite one of the year.
Today we are going to review the Tarte “The Tarte of Giving” Palette. So let’s see what Tarte has to offer this time. 🙂
I can’t tell you how much I adore this packaging! I think packaging a palette in something that is reusable is brilliant. It always makes me feel as if I am getting a something little extra for Christmas. 🙂 Tarte always excels when it comes to this, and this year was no exception. They packaged this palette exclusively made for Sephora in their signature purple shade. It has gold accents and large pockets for storing makeup as well as a clear bag that is removable. It has a gold hanger for easy storage. It’s sturdy and will be a great addition to store or travel with you makeup. This is brilliant! The palette hold a MASS amount of products! You will find 20 x .07 eyeshadows, 8 x 0.59 maracuja lipglosses, a 0.23 Deluxe Pure Maracuja Oil, 0.08 Deluxe Maracuja Oil C-Brightener Eye Treatment, a 0.05 blush, 0.17 Deluxe Cheek Stain, 0.16 Deluxe Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara, and of course the makeup bag. SHEW…That is a lot of product!
Hello Makeup Geeks! Today I have a review for you of an up and coming cosmetics line that is doing some pretty amazing things. “Dose of Color” currently offers lipsticks, lip glosses and false lashes. I had the pleasure to meet the lovely owner, Anna at IMATS and she is incredibly passionate and motivated about her business. I know many of you may already be familiar with this line, but for those of you who aren’t I wanted to share a quick review of her lipsticks with you. 🙂
I have been wearing these lipsticks for the last couple of weeks and they are AMAZING!
These lipsticks come in a sleek, durable white tube which is a pleasant change from the typical black tubes seldom used by most makeup companies. My favorite part of this packaging design is being able to see the actual color at the bottom of the tube. This way, you can see the exact shade you’re looking for without the hassle of having to open the lipstick. These lipsticks retail for $16.00 and are currently available in 8 vibrant shades.
This lipsticks formula is exceptional; highly pigmented, creamy, and extremely smooth. In fact, these lipsticks are so pigmented that even after being wiped away, they leave a non- drying stain on the lips. This is ideal for a long day, when you don’t have time to worry about your lipstick smudging or having to re-apply. These lipsticks are all cruelty free, vegan friendly, gluten and paraben free. Hi Makeup Geeks! As you all know, every year around the holidays I go on my search for the best makeup palettes released by the big cosmetics companies, then I review each of them individually for you and at the end pick my favorite one of the year. It’s a tough job but someone has to do it…:-)
This way you get to see the best palettes and what they have to offer, so let’s kick things off this holiday season with our first review!
“Let’s Meet In Paris” Holiday Eye Shadow Palette
OK, seriously does this packaging alone look as if it were made with me in mind?! I am in LOVE with this packaging. If I were to design a palette it would be very similar to this. The palette wrapped in metallic luxe baroque fabric which gives it a luxurious look and feel. It has a magnetic closure and is a sturdy plastic on the inside. This palette is very durable and very well made, they paid a lot of attention to the packaging on this. It does come with a dual-ended brush with one end being a shader and the other end being a slanted liner brush. The Cargo palette is 7.5 x 3.5 and contains 12 shades of metallic eye shadows. It retails for $39.00 which is a great price for what you get.
These are creamy, velvety and very smooth. They are highly pigmented and blend like a dream. It’s so fun for me to see the names on this because of my love for the city of Paris. I really like how there is a mixture of both vibrant colors and neutrals shades. This is a great palette that can be used to do complete looks without having to pull out any other shades to add with it which makes the palette more wearable and user friendly. The only thing I would have liked to have seen is if they had made Bastille, Beret or Cafe a matte shade since there are so many metallic/shimmers since then there would have been a good mixture of shimmer and matte finishes.
