Revlon Colorstay Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain Review

Hello Makeup Geeks! Today I have another review for you all of a drug store product that I love. I featured these in my “Summer Tag” video as well so please feel free to take at that. :-) I love these so much I wanted to do a full review of them for you. These are the “Revlon Lip Balm Stains”. I am usually not a fan of regular lip-stains simply because all the ones I have tried feel drying on the lips. Revlon Balm Stains are different in that they apply with a glossy look and feel, but when you wipe them away or they fade over time you are left with a beautiful soft, stained effect to the lips. These last a very long time and are very highly pigmented.

Revlon Bitten 03

What I like about these is that it is a balm that has been infused with color that comes in a crayon form and are retractable so they need no sharpening. These retail for about $6.00 depending on where you purchase them at. Many drugstores will have sales so keep an eye out for those! I got these at Ulta who was having a sale also. I want to share with you the colors I got.

  • “Rendezvous” – Soft Orange Color
  • “Cherish” – Girly Pale Pink
  • “Darling” – Cool Toned Pink with a Hint of Lilac
  • “Lovesick” – True Bright Pink
  • “Sweetheart” – Medium Warm Pink

The other shades that are in this line are:

  • “Honey” – Rosy/Natural Color
  • “Crush” – Deep Berry Red
  • “Smitten” – Plum with a Touch of Fuchsia
  • “Charm” – Light Warm Nude/Peach
  • “Romantic” – Warm Red with a Touch of Orange
  • “Precious” – Nude/Natural
  • “Adore” – Brown Toned Red

Revlon Bitten 04 Swatches

These retail at most drugstores, Target, Ulta, Amazon and eBay for around $6.00 – $8.99 depending on where you purchase them. Be sure and look for BOGO sales.

These are like a lipgloss but not sticky in any way. They are very sheer, shiny and still have a good amount of pigmentation. Ideal for the summer, these would be perfect to toss in your beach bag and take along with you for an added pop of color. The only thing I don’t like about these is that you really do have to rub them on because they are a buildable color. So you really have layer the color by putting a little extra on. What I love is that they aren’t tacky in any way like many lipglosses and have great color payoff.

  • Highly pigmented
  • Feels Smooth without being sticky
  • Leaves a soft stain on the lip
  • Last a long time
  • Buildable color
  • Great for summer
  • Nice color range (12 to be exact)
  • Good price
  • Easy to find

  • You do have to build the color

Revlon Bitten 01

So these are a definite 2 thumbs up from me on these amazing Lip Balm Stains! These will be great for the upcoming hot summer months. If you have tried these or if you plan on trying these, let me know what you think of them in the comments below. Stay happy and healthy!

NOYA Lip Balm Review

Hello my fellow Makeup Geeks! Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Leslie an I am beyond thrilled to be able to review new items that you may never have heard of or just haven’t tried yet. I am going to be reviewing both high-end products as well as more inexpensive products that are budget friendly. My reviews will be fair and honest; I won’t recommend anything to you that I wouldn’t spend my own money on!

So you may be asking yourself, “Who is this?” Well, let me give you some information about who I am and how I came to be part of this amazing group of people. I live in Southwest Virginia on the border of Tennessee and Virginia in a little town named Gate City. I am as southern as you get and have the accent to prove it. I am 41 years old and have been married to my best friend and husband for 21 years. I have two children, my son is 20 and my sweet daughter is 16. I also have a beautiful granddaughter who was born on July 4, 2012. She’s our little firecracker.

Hopefully over time while reviewing products you can get to know me and my family and be part of our lives as well. I look forward to it. And if there are any products you would like to see reviewed please don’t hesitate to leave a comment below letting me know. I would love to hear from you! So let’s get started with our first review!

Noya Lip Balm Review

Price & Where to Buy : $3.49  at  Makeup Geek Store

For my first few reviews I wanted to focus on some things that we have begun to carry in the Makeup Geek store that you may not have necessarily heard of or know we are selling. Recently, we began carrying NOYA Lip Balms. Personally, I had never heard of these. Many times this can be a good thing so you aren’t not swayed one way or the other and can more easily give a personal and honest review.

NOYA Lip Balms only contain 3 – 5 ingredients depending on which flavor of balm you choose. These come in four different flavors; vanilla, cherry, natural and spearmint. They are all natural and kosher. The claims on the website are as follows; “NOYA kosher lip balms contain no more than 3-5 simple, all-natural, kosher ingredients. Packed full of moisture, they’ll leave your lips begging for more, but don’t worry – all the ingredients are the same ones you can find in your kitchen, so feel free to reapply as often as your heart (and taste buds!) desire. They come in four fun flavors, sure to satisfy even the pickiest of puckers!”

The first thing I should mention is that I am not much of a lip balm girl. I know some people love them, but it was just not something I ever really got into. The only time you would find me using one was when my lips felt ordinarily dry or chapped and even then I would just use whatever I had here at the house. They always left my lips feeling smothered and the product felt heavy and never did what it claimed to do. The other thing I noticed immediately was the flavors. One thing I strongly dislike is artificial flavors. You know what I mean, that fake cherry flavor that comes in most gums and lip balms. Every kind I ever tried that claimed to be “all natural” or “taste like really cherries” never did. It always tasted like a bad synthetic version of the real thing to me, so I wasn’t expecting much more than I had tried numerous other times with the same results.

So I received two from the Makeup Geek store to try and test. The first one I used was cherry. I placed it on my lips and began to immediately rub my lips together to see how bad the flavor was truly going to be. Immediately I noticed the texture of the lip balm. These didn’t feel greasy like a lot of other balms I had tried in the past. These were lightweight, smooth and felt natural on my lips. The only thing that I could actually feel was a hydrating feeling as if my lips were being nourished.

The next thing I noticed was the flavor. I actually had to pick up the tube and look to make sure I had put on the right one; sure enough I was wearing the cherry flavor on my lips. It was amazing! This is not that fake flavor that many lip balms possess. This is a delicious, natural flavor that tastes as good as it feels. It really does taste like real cherries and I found myself licking my lips to continue to taste it. After basically licking the first coat off, I put on a second coat to sleep in and see if I could notice a difference by morning. And to my surprise, I really could. My lips were much softer and subtle and felt hydrated without a greasy or oily residue.

It took a while for me to actually switch and give the vanilla flavor a shot because I absolutely loved the cherry so much, but finally I gave in and put down my much loved cherry. The vanilla has a surprising flavor, this taste far more like a sugar cookie or yummy cupcake rather than your basic vanilla flavor making it a sweet surprise.

After a week of using them nightly before bed I could tell a huge difference in my lips. Not only were they softer and much more subtle, the looked and felt more hydrated and had a better overall appearance. The other things I truly love about these are the all-natural ingredients. I know exactly what I am putting on my lips. The flavors and ingredients are as follows:

  • Natural – Coconut Oil, Beeswax, Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil  – (Makeup Geek Store)
  • Vanilla – Coconut Oil, Beeswax, Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Flavor, Organic Stevia – (Makeup Geek Store)
  • Cherry – Coconut Oil, Beeswax, Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Flavor, Organic Stevia – (Makeup Geek Store)
  • Spearmint – Coconut Oil, Beeswax, Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Flavor, Menthol – (Makeup Geek Store)

The other great thing is the price, for only $3.49, these are budget friendly enough to try all four!

  • Leaves lips soft and subtle
  • Taste AMAZING
  • Feels light and natural
  • Doesn’t feel greasy
  • Doesn’t weigh down lips
  • All natural ingredients
  • Extremely moisturizing
  • Great Price
  • Inexpensive

  • None that I can think of — especially for the price

I highly recommend these! They are the best lip balms I have ever tried and I will never use another one. In fact I like these so much I will be purchasing the other two to have the entire set of these spectacular lip balms! Well, there you have it. I highly recommend these to anyone who has a love for lip balms, and for those of you, who were like me, give these a try, they are sure to surprise you! Be sure and let me know what you think and if there is anything you would like to see me review just post it in the comments below. :-)

NARS Satin Lip Pencils Review

Hello my wonderful Makeup Geeks! Today I have a review for you of the NARS Satin Lip Pencils. I am not usually a huge fan of lip pencils just because they can be drying, but I really like these. The come in typical crayon fashion, are available in 13 shades and are really good. The one I am wearing now is “Yu”.

These are on the higher-end price wise which is typical for NARS as it is a high-end cosmetics company. These sell for $25.00 and contain .07 ounces of product. I do love that these are very moisturizing and even after they start to come off and have worn for a while they appear as a lip stain and not just a regular lipstick or pencil. The great thing about this is if you want to wear one of the brighter shades, but you are leery of bolder shades, you can simply apply the lip pencil and blot your lips for a more muted stained effect. These are very creamy and glide on smoothly and are very highly pigmented. I was actually very surprised at how much I liked them. The only downside was the price.

As for the packaging, I have never really like the “crayon” type lip pencils simply because I feel like a kid drawing on my face, but that’s my personal preference. The one complaint I do have about the packaging is with the lids. They are easy to remove, but unfortunately the lid doesn’t want to stay on very well. Because of this I have had the lid fall off a couple of mine and it messed up the lip color. For the price the lids should be better quality and remain on.

Almay Liquid Lip Balm Review

Hello Makeup Geeks! I know it’s been a while since I filmed a review for you all but I finally decided it was time to do some makeup shopping. I love experimenting with new makeup products which is what got me into this business in the first place. I love color, texture and everything about makeup. So I enjoy getting to see what’s out there and then letting you know if it’s something you should pick up for yourself. I wanted to do a drugstore review since it’s been a while since I reviewed drugstore products.

The lip balms we are going to be looking at today is by Almay and to be honest I really don’t know a lot about them as I don’t purchase much from that line. I found these at Ulta and decided to give them a try as I was intrigued by the colors. There are 10 on the website and different stores will carry more or less depending on where you go. My Ulta had 6 different shades to choose from and I have 3 to share with you today.

I love the sleek design of the package. It’s easy to access and I really like the doe foot wand that these have. I am not a fan of the brushes that come with some lip glosses. The doe foot on the wand makes it much easier to apply on the go as opposed to the brushes. I also like that you can see the actual color in the tube and how pigmented they are.

Almay swatches-1

What I don’t like about these is they are quite deceiving. In the tube they look very pigmented, but when you apply them they are very sheer. If you are someone who likes a sheer wash of color than these would be great. However if you like something very pigmented these are probably not going to be the best for you. What I do like about these is that they are not sticky in any way. You all know it’s my number 1 pet peeve to have a sticky lip gloss. Another thing I like is that they are very glossy as well. Usually if a lip gloss has a very glossy finish it is very tacky, but these are the perfect combination. The other thing I don’t like is the limited color range. It does feel nice on the lips and is very moisturizing for what you get.

  • Cantaloupe Cream – Peachy/Coral – (Amazon) (eBay)
  • Lilac Love – Purple/Plum – (Amazon) (eBay)
  • Rosy Lipped – Muted Nude/Pink – (Amazon) (eBay)
  • Blooming Balm – Soft petal pink – (Amazon) (eBay)
  • Just Plum Good – Deep plum with pink undertones – (Amazon) (eBay)
  • Nudetrients – Nude beige – (Amazon) (eBay)
  • Apple a Day – Warm red – (Amazon) (eBay)
  • Pink Pout – Medium Bright Pink – (Amazon) (eBay)
  • Apricot Pucker – Sheer Bright Coral – (Amazon) (eBay)
  • Truffle Kiss – Warm sugar brown – (Amazon) (eBay)

  • Good price
  • Great packaging
  • Not sticky
  • Feels great on the lips
  • Moisturizing

  • Not a good color range
  • Very sheer

I like these, I am not blown away by them but they are good. These retail for $5.99 which is a great price. If you like a  very natural look to your lips then I would definitely recommend that you try these out.  Overall for me I just wasn’t wowed  by them.

So that’s it for this review. I hope your enjoyed it and until next time I hope you all are staying happy and healthy. 🙂

See you soon
