The Kurkdjian Love-In Continues…

Francis Kurkdjian Apom Femme Body Cream Review

Sorry about this one folks: it’s a post about an amazing product that I can’t find a proper stockist for. I’m well aware of how annoying that is, but bear with me and I’ll try to add some stockist information by the end of the day. I’m currently away from Mission Control (again) and Google isn’t being my friend on this one!

On Friday I briefly mentioned a perfume that I’m head over heels in love with: Lumiere Noir by Maison Francis Kurkdjian. It’s a dark, sultry, almost-too-sexy-to-be-legal kind of scent that takes the classic “Girl Next Door” rose and turns it into a Lady Who Knows Many Things kind of rose. If you catch my drift. You can read about Lumiere Noir (and also about the new Jean Paul Gaultier Classique Intense that’s about to be launched) in this post here; but for now my love-in with Kurkdjian continues with his APOM body cream.

If you like Orange Blossom then by God you will love this. It’s a hundred heady summer holiday evenings all packed into a tube. The cream itself is rich and sumptuous, but it’s the fragrance that really catches your attention. And then lingers on. For days.

The cream actually seems to be longer lasting than even the perfume version; maybe because the body cream absorbs into your clothes or bedsheets? But on the downside, the cream does seem more difficult to track down online, whereas the fragrance version is stocked at lots of the major department stores. I can only find the cream on Amazon, weirdly, but you can buy the perfume version at Liberty (here) so I’m hoping that they stock the body cream, too.. I’ll endeavour to find out. Let me know if you have any information on the APOM Body Cream’s whereabouts! It’s pricey at £50 a pop, so definitely a bit of a treat, but really does smell incredible.

*Update: it’s on Kurkdjian’s official website here for €48. If you’re in Paris, you can visit the store and have a good nosey about. (Pun intended.) The address is 5, rue d’Alger, 75001 Paris.

Berocca for Your Face: Vitamin C Serums and Fizzy Masks!

ruth crilly vitamin c skincare review

This video backfired on me a little bit: I started thinking about filming it four years ago, but have only just managed to get my act together, and as a result more than half the products I mentioned were discontinued when I went to do my credits! So I had to edit them all out, and even after that there were still two things that no longer existed! Epic fail. Just goes to show that the whole carpe diem thing is true – seize the day, get things done when they occur to you, don’t have shelves of skincare categorised into weird sections that you promptly forget about as soon as the next brilliant idea enters your head…

Nevertheless, there are some crackers in this vid; I wanted to collect together skincare that (kind of) replicated the effects of a Berocca tablet, but on your face instead of inside your body. So: fizzy, orangey, Vitamin C stuff that brightens and zizzes and generally gives everything a bit of a lift and a boost. One thing that I completely forgot to put in, that would have been quite appropriate, was the REN Flash Rinse Facial – not my number one treatment, by any means, but definitely fizzy and vitamin-y.

Anyway: see what you think, add your own suggestions, particularly if you can think of affordable-yet-effective serums and masks that have a Berocca-esque vibe. If you haven’t a clue what a Berocca is, it’s a multivitamin tablet that you drop into water. It fizzes about, dissolves, turns the water (and your wee) bright orange, makes you feel less hungover, etc etc..
