I’ve really been looking forward to trying Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation & Concealer , but somehow this went to the back of the test pile so I’ve been a bit slow in review. The claim is that Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation & Concealer is a concealer and foundation in one – at least you know what it’s going to do from the name! It’s also making heavy weather of the fact that it’s supposed to be a light formula. But, it’s not really. I love a proper coverage foundation, and that’s definitely what you get here without any ‘mask’ look, but it’s not what you could describe as light. Formula wise, I think it’s a little dry on first application but Clinique claim that it tackles oiliness and hydration where needed throughout the day. This does ring true because as the day wore on it felt less dry and more hydrating! It’s very clever. MAC Eyegloss

I heard about the possibility of MAC Eyegloss at the beginning of this year and I’ve been obsessd with idea ever since. So, discovering that they’re a reality now was a total thrill.

Medoc is a rich, rich red shade – I can’t imagine a more dramatic eye than this. Slightly Tauped is the gentlest shade with soft irridescent sparkles in the mix, while Pearl Varnish is a strong white, again with irridescent shimmers. The black shade (Noticably .. something!) has red shimmer to it and it’s not an exact black, more a deep blackberry shade with notes of purple in the mix.

MAC Eyegloss

Look at the gleam on those! Texture wise, of course, they don’t feel like a texture that should go on the eye, but they’re thick – thicker than a lipgloss would be so that they adere to the lids correctly. I imagine on the eye they’re going to feel pretty strange but it’s such a strong look, there will have to be a little pain for the ultimate gain! You’re probably not going to be wearing these at all unless you’re prepared to take some make-up risks.

So many have tried and failed at the concept of an eye gloss – I didn’t have a chance to get it on my lids – there are hardly any of these in production at the moment; only the MAC artists have them, and even then they’re in pretty short supply. I’m hoping we get to see them on some backstage looks; keep your eyes peeled!

1) Mr AMR and I decided to give Homeland a go, as we’d exhausted pretty much all other TV shows on Netflix apart from the really rubbish ones. We were quickly hooked into the fast-paced story line and devoured two series in just under two weeks. Trivial fact: Jess, Nicholas Brody’s wife in the series, suddenly became my number one beauty inspiration. She’s just absolutely gorgeous! Those eyes! The lovely soft pouty mouth! She makes me want to have dark, short hair and…well…her face. Jessica is played by Morena Baccarin and I have been doing some subtle Google stalking: Morena and I are almost the same age! (She’s about a year and a half older.) Morena and I both…no. We have nothing else in common.

*UPDATE: I’m trying to find a picture that does her justice – she looks much better in Homeland than on Google! Anyway, tell me I’m not the only one who thinks she’s utterly gorgeous?

2) The Body Shop have released a new limited edition fragrance for (I’m assuming) Christmas and it reminds me of those green fizzy laces you used to be able to get from the sweet shop. I’m sure you can still get them in sweet shops, I just haven’t had the urge to eat a fizzy lace in a couple of decades. I used to love fizzy sour lances and laces and we all used to have bags of them to eat on the school bus home, but they used to give me the worst sores on my tongue! Anyway, I’m sure The Body Shop’s “Glazed Apple” won’t give you sores on anything, least of all your tongue, so slather away and enjoy. I have the body butter and it’s really quite moreish and a blessed relief from the usual orange ‘n cloves kind of scent you get landed with at Christmas… The Glazed Apple range is online here.

3) Naughty pets! They are not allowed on the bed, but sometimes they sneak on up there and settle in for the night as we potter about turning off lights and locking doors. It’s always a bit heartbreaking chucking them off.
