Caudalie Vinoperfect Complexion Correcting Radiance Serum Review

Lots of people have body and beauty concerns when they’re pregnant – fears about their body changing and never returning to its former glory, worries about hair loss and stretch marks and a dread of getting spotty, hormonal skin. I was one of those incredibly annoying people who loved every minute of my pregnancy (conveniently ignoring the horrendous first few months during which I felt as though I was suffering the world’s worst hangover) and I really enjoyed the changes that happened to my body.

My main concern was a skincare one, really, because a few of my friends had developed very dark spots on their face during their pregnancies and some had experienced full-blown chloasma, which is when the hyperpigmentation is quite severe and looks like a sort of mask around the eyes and nose. Frequently, pregnancy marks like this disappear after the baby’s birth, but I had friends who developed dark spots from being in the sun and not protecting their skin and these seemed to have stuck around.

Dark spots are one of the skincare concerns that you don’t think about so much when you’re younger – you worry more about getting wrinkles, or getting pimples – but hyperpigmentation can have a much more dramatic impact on the overall look of the skin than either of those things. Apparently the steep rise in estrogen levels during pregnancy can stimulate excess melanin production, which is what causes the dark brown patches of pigmentation, and so I wanted to be extra-careful with my skin during pregnancy. I made sure that I wore an SPF every day and also an antioxidant serum beneath it, for added protection.

Since then, I’ve been very interested in the various serums and treatments that can be used to help protect the skin from dark spots and the latest one to cross my path is the Vinoperfect Complexion Correcting Radiance Serum from beautiful French brand Caudalie.

Caudalie Vinoperfect Complexion Correcting Radiance Serum Review

This serum is France’s number one pharmacy-stocked anti-dark spot solution and has been the bestseller since 2008. No mean feat when you consider how many brilliant products you can find on the hallowed shelves of the French Pharmacie! Vinoperfect Complexion Correcting Radiance Serum contains Viniferine, a powerful natural ingredient that’s taken from grapevine sap, and olive squalene for deep but non-greasy moisturisation.

The stabilised Viniferine used as a key ingredient in the serum has been shown to work in a number of different ways to help prevent dark spots and create an even, radiant skintone. Most importantly, it enables the production of tyrosinase, which regulates melanin production, and also has an anti-inflammatory effect, which limits the synthesis of melanin. Viniferine also helps to promote microcirculation in the blood capillaries so that radiance is boosted, and it demonstrates a level of antioxidant activity that can increase the skin’s own protection against UV rays. Clinical tests for Viniferine showed a reduction in dark spots after just four weeks of use and that the complexion was more radiant; their tests also showed Viniferine to be sixty-two times more effective at regulating melanin production than Vitamin C.

Caudalie Vinoperfect Complexion Correcting Radiance Serum Review

I’ve been using Caudalie’s Vinoperfect for the past three weeks and though I don’t have any dark spots to get rid of, I have been spending quite a lot of time outside and my skin looks nicely even in tone rather than the random areas of tan I usually end up with on my face! I also find the serum to be nicely moisturising, so much so that I’ve skipped moisturiser on a number of occasions and just gone straight in with my BB Cream or SPF or whatever I’ve been using.

A quick and easy skincare step, then – I’ll update you again with results once I’ve finished the bottle, but I’m finding that a little goes a long way, so you may have a bit of a wait! In the meantime, I have five gorgeous Vinoperfect sets to giveaway so that you can try the serum for yourself at home. Each set contains a Vinoperfect Complexion Correcting Radiance Serum and a Soleil Divin anti-ageing SPF50 for the face, so the perfect summer skincare duo if you’re looking to boost your protection and add some radiance! The giveaway is open to UK residents aged 18 and over and all you need to do is leave me a comment below, making sure you enter your email into the form where prompted (it’s not public). Please leave your comment before 12 noon (BST) on the 1st July 2016 – winners will be announced in the following Sunday Tittle Tattle. Good luck everyone – you can read more about the Vinoperfect Complexion Correcting Radiance Serum from Caudalie on their website here.

Gifts for the Cosy Night In

christmas gift guide cosy night in

The “Cosy Night In” is a theme close to my own heart this year (it’s too much hassle to do anything else, quite frankly) and so I’ve picked out the ultimate presents for people who just want to chill. Preferably next to the fire. With a glass of red wine in hand. I’m following this post closely with “Gifts for the Glamorous Night Out”, so don’t feel disheartened if you have a dozen party animals to buy for – I have your back. But for now, if you’re searching high and low for lovely things that will be appreciated by Mums, Sisters, Best Friends and Auntie Magdas the world over, look no further.

Let’s kick off with some Luxury Hot Chocolate, pictured above. You can’t go too far wrong with Whittard and this kilner tin looks suitably festive – you can find it at Amazon here for £8. I’m big on hot chocolate, not being a tea-or-coffee drinker, and this one is lush. Not too bitter, not too sweet…just right. As Goldilocks said.

Sticking with the gourmand idea, something tasty for the body: Laura Mercier’s Almond Coconut Milk Soufflé Body Creme. This is part of a gorgeous “Sweet Temptations” set that has everything you need for an indulgent bath ritual – the scent is warm and sweet and perfect for slathering on before cosying up in pyjamas. You can find the set here at SpaceNK – it’s £49. *just spotted at House of Fraser for £44 here.

Makeup Revolution Salvation Palettes

Salvation

There is so much newness from MakeUp Rev that I’m going to break it all up into two.. possibly three posts… see how we go, but I think the products that are the most anticipated are the Makeup Revolution Salvation Palettes – five 18 shade palettes, each containing a mix of shimmer and matte shades. I can’t swatch all of them (I’ve never wished for more arms before now!) but have snapped each one.

The £80 Eye Mask Dupe…

first aid beauty eye gel review

Perhaps “dupe” isn’t quite the right word to use here; “alternative” is far more accurate, but it doesn’t sound as good in my title! The Eye Duty Triple Remedy Gel Cream from First Aid Beauty isn’t by any means a copy of Sisley’s amazing Eye Contour Mask – it isn’t a mask, for a start – but its texture and intense hydrating effects put it firmly into the same category. And seeing as though one (the Sisley) costs over £80 and the other (FAB) is £26…well, it would be rude not to do a comparison!

Sisley’s Eye Contour Mask is an old favourite of mine. Despite its heart-stopping price (although do see below for a cost-justification/enabling moment) it’s one of the original – and best – eye masks for instantly pepping-up saggy, tired eye areas. I used this mask throughout my most intense modelling years (by intense, I mean lots of modelling mixed with lots of travelling and lots of going out!) and it didn’t ever fail to make me look better. I’d apply it to my undereyes before bed or at the start of a flight and then remove it when I was about to have my makeup done.

Watch a very old video where I transform my hungover face…

The only problem with this little routine was that the eye mask was so moisturising that if I didn’t leave enough hours between applying the mask and getting to a shoot (ie, I went to bed in the early hours!) the makeup artist would find it difficult to apply foundation or concealer around the eye area. The slightest bit of residue from the mask meant that makeup slid about and refused to settle in. The only way to ensure that makeup went on was to remove the eye mask with cleanser and then re-moisturise, which used to annoy me because I felt as though I was washing away the mask magic!

So I’ve always been on the prowl for a sort of lesser Sisley mask that could be used directly before makeup – one that didn’t need removing. Which I suppose, strictly speaking, is not a mask at all but an eye cream. Moving on…

The moment I tried the First Aid Beauty Triple Remedy I knew that I’d found a nice little alternative. The same thickish, glycerin feel, the same sensation as wearing those jelly stick-on eye masks that cost a fortune per wear… Deeply hydrating, incredibly refreshing and with a firming, cooling effect that is just brilliant for groggy mornings. And (this is where the Sisley point-of-difference comes in) it is relatively quick to absorb, so no residue, but the hydrating effects last just as long.

Now I do think that the Sisley mask, with its rose and arnica and antioxidants and the like, seems to be more effective as a leave-on product; the longer you have it on for, the better it works – but the FAB Gel Cream is just excellent in all other ways. Quick, convenient, sits brilliantly beneath makeup and really does feel comforting around the eyes – all of this for £26.

I said I’d address the price issue, and here it is: Sisley’s Eye Contour Mask is a hefty £81.50, but  (and here’s the crucial part) you do get twice as much product than almost any other eye cream or treatment on the market. The standard is 15ml, Sisley give 30ml. So to compare in a fair and true manner, you need to double the price of whatever you’re doing the comparison with. In this case, FAB’s Gel Cream is £52. Still a truckload cheaper than Sisley’s, but it’s definitely food for thought…

First Aid Beauty’s Triple Rescue Gel Cream is on Amazon here or LookFantastic – don’t mix it up with the one in the tube with concealer mixed in, I have no idea what that one’s like – and Sisley’s gorgeous mask is here.

The New Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation and Concealer

New Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation and Concealer

One of my aims for 2017 is to adopt a healthier routine and to really make the most of my mornings; that means no more sugary cereal, while plumped in front of the T.V. watching re-runs of shows I’ve seen at least twice before. I also want to make time for me, be it making a delicious breakfast juice(recipe at end of post) or sitting down and really appreciating my beauty products – rather than haphazardly slapping on some powder and lipstick via the morning commute. I find setting my alarm a little earlier, going for a brisk walk and generally enjoying the tranquillity before rush hour sets in, gears me up for the rest of the day – putting a little pep in my step and a rosy flush on my cheeks. If you are all about naturally glowing skin – and who isn’t – then may I suggest the new and improved Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation and Concealer line?

I have been a fan of the original Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation for years as I can always rely on it to provide both a seamless and flawless application, complete with a beautiful, naturally radiant finish. It is the one base product I am never without, I truly believe that no other foundation, high street or otherwise can rival Healthy Mix, so you can imagine the arrival of the new and improved formula is music to my ears. The same gloriously, lightweight and glow inducing texture of Bourjois Healthy Mix but with a few new and additional bonuses. If ever there was a time to re-visit or finally try out the Bourjois Healthy Mix products for yourself, it is now.

New Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation and Concealer

Much like the original Bourjois Healthy Mix, the new and improved formulation features a lightweight texture that aglides and melts onto the skin (regardless of how you may apply it) providing a comfortable, transfer resistant experience for up to 16 hours. What sets Healthy Mix aside from other foundations is that not only does it deliver a glowing, radiant finish with a moderate level of coverage (I find this more than sufficient to cover my hyper pigmentation left behind from acne – image below) but it is loaded with skin boosting and protecting vitamins such as: Apricot to promote additional radiance, Melon for skin quenching hydration that lasts up to 8 hours and Apple (a known anti-oxidant) to protect the skin. Think of Bourjois Healthy Mix as the all-in-one foundation: it protects, covers and moisturises in one quick step and comes in no less than 9 shades.

That glow that you can’t quite put your finger on when wearing Bourjois Healthy Mix and the real reason no other foundation nor concealer you own, can quite come as close? Bourjois have infused their fan favourite formulation with crystalline pigments that help to even out the complexion, all the while letting in the natural light for that healthy looking glow.

New Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation and Concealer

In my opinion there is no better concealer that disguises a late night or two, nor generally leaves you feeling bright eyed and bushy tailed than the Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer. Again this too has underwent a make-over, with a new and easier to use doe foot applicator; this truly makes application a breeze wither it is concealing dark circles, a blemish or even using it to highlight. Much like the foundation of the same name, Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer is jam packed with natural and skin boosting vitamins: Apricot from additional radiance, Raspberry to boost micro-circulation for plumper skin and lastly Melon for additional hydration. This is one of the very few concealers that will not only brighten even the darkest of circles and tell signs of a sleepless night but also plump, moisturise and protect the delicate skin around the eyes.

New Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation and Concealer

I know that we are often pushed for time, so for your convenience I have swatched all 9 shades of the Healthy Mix Foundation below and all three of the new concealers too. I am currently wearing the shade Light Beige in foundation and the lightest concealer. If you have used Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation in the past, the good news is that despite the formulation improvements, the shade names have remained the same with the addition of three new options: 50 Rose Ivory, 57 Bronze and 58 Caramel, so finding your perfect fit has never been easier.

Bottom photo – concealer swatches, shades left to right: light, medium and dark.

I’ve said it a million times before to all that will listen but there is no better foundation – budget friendly otherwise – to create glowing, healthy, radiant and flawless skin quite like Bourjois Healthy Mix.

You can find Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation via Boots for £7.99(usually £9.99) – link and Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer via Boots for £7.99 – link.
