Treat Time: The Clinique Covent Garden Gift #ad

clinique bonus time january 2015

If you’re intent on overhauling your beauty cabinet this January then now is the time: Clinique have a gorgeous gift available at their Covent Garden store, available with the purchase of two or more Clinique products*. The gift includes a mini of one of my favourite shades in the Pop Lip Colour and Primer line-up, “Melon Pop” (you can read by rave about those lipsticks here) and a brilliant shadow duo in “Black Honey and Amber” as well as a High Impact mascara (3.5ml), Rinse Off Foaming Cleanser (30ml), Dramatically Different Moisturiser+ (30ml) and Repairwear Laser Focus Eye Cream (5ml). Everything comes presented in a colourful makeup bag designed in collaboration with Kapitza Studio, who make brilliant geometric art for interiors and fashion textiles.

I find beauty miniatures irresistible (as you would find out if you ever poked about in my office drawers, which are full to the brim with tiny tubes of face cream and dinky perfume bottles and little glass pots of this and that) and I entirely blame Clinique for this particular addiction, because it was their “Bonus Time” gifts that got me hooked in my late teens!

I loved being able to discover new products and – as an incorrigible beauty addict – I liked the excuse to treat myself to a couple of things knowing that I was getting even more stuff to play about with at home. Though I’m pretty sure that the makeup offerings when I was a teen were never quite so tempting as they are these days; just look at this Melon Pop Lip Color:

So bright and cheerful for these dismal winter days. The formula is rich and buttery and feels comforting on crackled weather-beaten lips, but the colour is vibrant and bold. Just gorgeous.

And the All About Shadow duo is very wearable and flattering; below I’ve used the lighter shade as a wash across the lid and the darker to add depth and define the lashline slightly. I’ve finished off with a couple of coats of the High Impact Mascara…

This gift is exclusive to the Covent Garden Store until the 30th January 2016 – free with the purchase of two or more Clinique products* – and if you’re stocking up and happen to buy a third product, you get a free FULL SIZE Moisture Surge Overnight Mask! If you need some pointers when it comes to skincare choices then please do read my post here.

A Little Black Midi Dress & My New Found Love For Hairbands

A Little Black Midi Dress & My New Found Love For Hairbands

“Everyone needs a little black dress in their wardrobe…” Words probably passed down from generation to generation for the last five decades. There’s a reason it’s a closet staple, transcending style and age, and why it’s always a fall-back when…

It’s All Baby Edith’s Fault…

baby edith crawling

I’m so terribly sorry; I have been too busy cooing over my niece, Baby Edith, to even consider doing any work. She’s a total distraction. Just started crawling, and Granny has been teaching her how to clap! Normal service will be resumed tomorrow, after I have finished pulling silly faces and doing animal impressions. Mooooooo…

Lancome Jason Wu Collection

Lancome Jason Wu

Ooh, actually.. having previously been not terribly interested in the Lancome Jason Wu Collection because it’s US only, I’m doing an about turn because the palettes look gorgeous. Above is Midnight Rose.

Lancome Jason Wu

Above is Alpha Dahlia – love the smoky black liner at the bottom of the palette to blend with other shades.

And, finally, Disco.

If you are Stateside, the palettes are all $50 each, and I think the most exciting part of the range which also comprises lipstick, polish and blush.

Pur Minerals Liquid Veil

Liquid Veil

I know that Pur Minerals has a cushion foundation on its way – more on that later – but for now, I’m so impressed with the new Pur Minerals Liquid Veil 4-in-1 Spray Foundation. Spray foundations aren’t the easiest of things to use for obvious reasons – and yes, the spray is not as controllable as you’d like (keep your white dress away from this) – but in this rare instance, it’s worth the effort. The way that you use it is to spray directly onto the brush (annoyingly, you have to buy the brush separately so you might want to use a brush you already have) then apply to the face. You can tell from the get-go that the foundation formula is skin-loving. It feels feather light, leaves a gorgeous dewy glow and gives very good coverage. You buff it into the skin (much like the bareMinerals foundation) and you … well, just glow! I love a dewy look foundation – Pur suggest adding powder afterwards but if you do you will lose that dewy glow – so I think I’d recommend this for dryer skin types and not anyone needing to tamp down the dew with powders. I… Read More
