Wildcard Purchase: The Perfect Autumn Boots

Topshop Honey Gold Trim Boots

I ordered these ankle boots from Topshop on a bit of a whim, just opened up my parcel and they are amazing! I quite often add some random wildcard things into my online shopping orders, just because I know that something will inevitably have to go back, so I may as well try on as many things as possible to make it all worthwhile…

As far as wildcard purchases go, this one was a total winner. Olive green suede boots with a gorgeous, sexy shape and a gold “postman’s lock” type trim that makes them look very high-end – a bit Chloe or Mulberry. I wouldn’t usually go for green when it comes to boots (wouldn’t usually go for suede either, for that matter) but the colour is so lovely and soft – a greyish olive rather than anything too “Robin Hood and his Merry Men”.

Topshop Honey Gold Trim Boots

I’m incredibly pleased. Sizing-wise, I have a feeling they might come up a little small, but then I did try them on with walking socks, because the dog has eaten all of my normal ones. All of them. All. And he ate the crotch out of my favourite pyjama bottoms! So do let me know how the sizing is, if you get them – they also come in black, but I like the luxury feel of the olive. A great autumn purchase.

You can find the Topshop Honey Boots online here – they cost £69.

LDN Event, GWP Galore & A Genius Mist…

For all of us UK babes who have sat and scrolled enviously through Instagram whilst the ‘Indie Beaty Expo’ or ‘A Night For Green Beauty’ events were taking place is the USA… It’s our turn! Make a note in the diary because Sunday JULY 10th is going to be a great day.
Clean Cult, Londons first wellbeauty festival is taking place. Organised by the totally wonderful Mayah & Sabrina from Call It Vanity and Elsie and Dominika of Clean Beauty Co, Clean Cult will be hosted at ETHOS Spitalfields and showcase 8 of the best British beauty brands around, plus there will be superfood cocktails, complimentary mani’s and makeovers with Kure Bazaar and Jane Iredale. Tickets are £12.50 and uhmmm more importantly I’LL BE THERE! Yes, this northern lass is venturing south for the weekend, who’d have thunk it. I’ll be there from 3pm and I seriously cant wait!

As usual, lots of new brand launches and product releases at Naturisimo. They have just launched Zao Makeup (that bamboo packaging! swoon), Lotus Wei Flower Essences for gorgeous mists and scents, Colloidal Silver Plus, Storksak Organic for babies, Hifas da Terra supplements and more!
Also new is their latest limited edition beauty box, this time the perfect box for summer sun protection with 10 items, 5 of which are full size for £27.95 (worth £79).

Lots of gorgeous boutique brands launching at Content recently with some fab gift with purchase offers.

First up is the new-to-me super luxe skincare brand Julisis, receive a deluxe mask sample with any purchase.
Part home decor, part bodycare the beautiful Isla Apothecary has launched with a Palo Santo GWP.
The superfood brand Kiki Health has launched and a purchase of two or more products gets you a free full-size Magnesium Oil Spray! I actually really want to buy this mist so maybe now is the time!
Antipodes has finally made it’s way to Content and buying any two full-size products gets you a free full-size Reincarnation exfoliator.
Finally, they also have the newest spring shades from Kjaer Weis and RMS Beauty, including an exclusive from RMS the Content Lip Shine

Keeping up with their trend of bringing the best brands to the UK, Alyaka have just launched Ecobrow (!!!) Yarok Haircare and Dr. Alkaitis.
They also have the Mahalo Red My Lips Tint, a beautiful true ruby red lip colour designed to support the RedMyLips campaign.
Finally, they have also put together a new May Lindstrom sample kit, this time featuring generous 10ml sizes of The Honey Mud, The Problem Solver and The Clean Dirt, with the cost of the kit given as credit towards a full size purchase as always.

Cult Beauty have started stocking Coola Sun Protection and I’m so excited about the SPF30 Makeup Setting Spray! Coolest invention ever! If I was going on holiday this year I would for sure be picking this up. Easy sun protection without having to layer a greasy cream underneath your makeup, genius.

The new look Lina Hanson has launched onto The Detox Market and boy oh boy it’s gorgeous. Not only that but she has two new products; the Global Face Trio and Global Treasures balm. The Global Face Trio is a powder to paste style product to mask with, cleanse or exfoliate, and it contains an ingredient I’ve never heard of before; Thanaka powder. I can’t wait to order a lil sample of this to try it out when it makes it to the UK!

Scentered

Scentered

When the box of Scentered products popped through my door, I really didn’t take all that much notice of them – in fact, the tins made me think they were ‘speciality teas’ which I’m not a fan of (just give me a cup of Tetley and I’m happy). So, when I got round to looking properly at them, I was genuinely delighted to find that each tin contains a little aromatherapy balm to address several different stress situations.

There are five varieties, and I’ll briefly run though them with key oils used:

Stress Less: for every day tensions containing Chamomile, Neroli and Mandarin.

Sleep Well: self explanatory with Palmarosa, Lavender and Ylang Ylang.

Focus: for days when your mind is swimmy with too much stuff, containing Rosemary, Peppermint and Clary Sage.

Love: for stress or grief, containing Cedarwood, Rose and Patchouli.

Escape: for a battery recharge, containing Oud, Frankincense and Sandalwood.

Scentered

I know that aromatherapy can do astounding things for the senses; I’m a different person after an Aromatherapy Associates bath, but I like the Scentered Balms more for making you stop and assess your mood. I don’t think there’s anyone who doesn’t have some stress points during the day – the simple act of stopping, applying the balm and inhaling the theraputic grade aromatherapy oils in itself will give you reason to check yourself and your mindset. The one that’s of most use to me is Focus, although what I’d really like to do is cover my whole body in Stress Less and go back to bed!

Scandalous Beauty

Like everyone else in America, we’re obsessing over our favorite fall TV shows, so when we got the opportunity to get some MAJOR benetips from the beauty team behind the non-stop fab look of Washington DC’s fave fixers, we totally freaked. With the long hours of a TV crew, these ladies have secrets with some serious staying power. If it keeps their cast looking fine for the HD cameras all day long, it should have us looking bright and shiny, even after long days at the office, amirite?

Scandal_Majorette

Our first pro-tip is to use majorette to add color to a tired face & always look alive, no matter how rough your day has been. Our beauty experts tell us that, “Majorette is a must have. All you need is a touch for a day look, and then add more for an all-out fashionista blush moment later.” And who doesn’t love an all-out fashionista moment!? To boost your glow-factor even more, they suggest hoola to bronze and contour the cheek and chin area. Insider info: they love to use hoola on the men! (Hello, Mr. President!)

Obviously, with the crazy-long hours, seriously strong concealer is a must-have. Our pros recommend mixing erase paste with foundation to blast tough under eye circles. They also love the broad color range and blending capabilities of boi-ing for getting rid of anything from blemishes to dark circles.

Scandal_StayDontStray

Stay don’t stray is another one of their top benefaves. It’s a must to keep eyeshadow on throughout all the scandalous happenings on set, so they rely on stay don’t stray to give it ultimate holding power.

And, of course, would we be talking Benefit if we didn’t talk brows? The team’s newest obsession is gimme brow. Full, gorgeous brows couldn’t be more in right now, and these scandalous beauties tell us that gimme brow is a “brow-saver and life-changer!”

A final bonus tip: for a simple daytime look, all you need is benebalm and a quick coat of they’re real! mascara, and you’re ready to breeze right out the door! So tell us, do you plan on using these scandalous tips in your routine?

The Mellow, Jazz Club, Ready-to-Chill Candle…

best luxury candles

I have been busy shooting the annual Christmas Candle Video (out on Monday) and, once again, the Deep Sleep Heavenly Candle from This Works has emerged as one of my favourites. It has the most incredible scent – lavender, but not as you know it, more a dark and sexed-up version with quite a masculine edge. This isn’t “frolicking in a field in Provence” lavender; this lavender has been hanging out at some seedy jazz club in Soho and has rolled back in at four in the morning. Mellow, lipstick on its collar, ready to chill.

(What an earth? Someone please put a stop to my weird fragrance imaginings!)

The Deep Sleep Heavenly Candle is simply one of the best luxury home fragrancing options out there – truly effective in the “relax and sleep” department, an absolutely knockout scent and it doesn’t cost the earth. In fact, at £25 for 220g, it’s almost half the price of Diptyque. It’s sold out in most places (surely another great sign!) but you can still get it at This Works online. If you felt like properly splashing out then it’s part of the amazing Perchance to Dream gift set, which includes pillow spray, Dream Cream and  bath soak as well as the candle. That costs £65 here.
