Sol de Janeiro Delicia Drench Shower Oil Review

I am a big fan of Sol de Janeiro for fun and effective products and I really enjoyed their Delicia Drench Body Butter that launched last year. Bum Bum Cream is still my favourite but I was delighted to hear about the new shower product in the DD range. Here’s the lowdown on the very lovely Sol de Janeiro Delicia Drench Shower Oil.

What is Sol de Janeiro Delicia Drench Shower Oil?

A moisturising oil-to-milk body wash
Works to revive the skin barrier and support the microbiome
Intensely nourishes and hydrates the skin
Features the uplifting, woody gourmand scent of the Cheirosa ’59 fragrance
Suitable for all skin types

Delicia Drench Fragrance Notes

Top notes – Velvet Plum, Sugared Violet
Heart notes – Vanilla Orchid, Whipped Amber
Base notes – Sheer Sandalwood, Fresh Vetiver

How to use it

This is really easy to use. Simply massage the oil over wet skin and allow it to turn into a milky lather and rinse away after 30 to 60 seconds.

My Review

I really like the Delicia Drench Body Butter and I think it has a more subtle fragrance than say, Bum Bum Cream. However, I find the fragrance much more intense in this Shower Oil version. As soon as I snap open the cap, I can smell the Cheirosa ’59 fragrance and it is absolutely lovely. It fills the shower quickly and really turns it into a wonderful spa experience.

I love the soft and comforting violet notes in the fragrance. It is the perfect cosy scent for winter and like the Body Butter, it feels like a warm hug.

First Impressions

From the moment I opened the bottle, I knew I was in for a treat. As I already said, the scent makes itself known right away and you really feel like you are getting what you paid for.

The fragrance is super addictive fragrance and it brings gorgeous luxe and comfy-cosy vibes all at once.

The Texture

The texture is where the magic really happens. The oil feels silky and lightweight and it melts into the skin as soon as it touches water. As you massage it in, it transforms into a gentle, milky lather that feels super soft and nourishing. It literally feels like it is instantly smoothing out and softening the skin.

Unlike some shower oils that can feel sticky or overly heavy, this one rinses away really nicely but still leaves that feel of hydration and moisturisation. Your skin is left with the perfect veil of nourishment and fragrance.

Results

I think what I love about the Sol de Janeiro Delicia Drench Shower Oil the most is the instant softness that it impart on the skin. Immediately after use, my skin feels like silk—so smooth, so supple, and with a radiant, healthy glow. I almost feel that I don’t need moisturiser, but I am a creature of habit, and I ALWAYS need moisturiser!!

What makes it even better is that it’s not just a fleeting effect; the hydration truly lasts. Even hours after my shower, my skin feels super soft and silky.

Final Thoughts

The Sol de Janeiro Delicia Drench Shower Oil is perfect if you want to ramp up your hydration steps before you have even gotten out of the shower.

It’s super indulgent and very effective, and I love that it packs a punch with the fragrance. You could layer up with the Delicia Drench Body Butter if you wanted to, but the scent also layers really well with most of the perfumes I have used it with. It’s super versatile.

How to use it

For dryness:

So the Naturium Barrier Bounce Advanced Skin Hydrator is a bit of a multi-tasker. You can use it as a serum step if you want to improve barrier support and target dryness. For this you can layer it over lighter serums and under your moisturiser.

For extra glow:

If you’re a fan of the dewy look, the best way to use this is as the last step in your normal skincare routine. Just smooth over a small amount to really amp up the glow whilst locking in moisture.

My Review of Naturium Barrier Bounce

So as I suspected, this is a really lovely product and will be perfect if you are looking to defend your skin against moisture loss and ensure your complexion makes it through the winter months without too much suffering!

It has a beautiful rich texture that, if you had normal skin that doesn’t experience too much dryness, could potentially be enough for a one and done serum and moisturiser step.

I have enjoyed using it as my serum step under moisturiser, and it’s also really gorgeous to prime the skin for the makeup if you want to amp up the glow levels.

Naturium Barrier Bounce applied as last step in skincare routine

Although rich, it sinks in beautifully and doesn’t leave the skin looking or feeling greasy. It is a really well balanced product.

Naturium Barrier Bounce vs Glossier FutureDew

As soon as I saw this new Naturium product, it was impossible not to compare it to Glossier FutureDew which I am also a big fan of.

Both products are this oil-serum formula and I have to say, the textures are pretty similar. Both are rich and nourishing, and when used as the last step in your skincare, deliver that lovely glowy, glossy finish to the skin.

I’d say that Glossier FutureDew* leans more to the makeup side, as it contains light reflecting pigments, where as Naturium is more of a skincare product. I think you get a bit more of a long lasting glow from FutureDew because of that.

In terms of price, Naturium Barrier Bounce is much more affordable at £26.50 for 50ml, whereas Glossier FutureDew is £30 for 30ml. This makes Naturium almost half the price if that helps at all.

As a cleanser obsessive, I am always excited to try new formulas, and this ESPA Yuzu & Ginger Cleansing Sorbet sounded very appealing indeed. I have been testing it out, here’s the lowdown.

What is ESPA Yuzu & Ginger Cleansing Sorbet?

Described as a balm to oil cleanser to melt away make up and impurities, this is a delight for the senses:

Starts as a jelly-like consistency

My Review

First of all, this smells so zingy and fresh which makes it so perfect to use in the morning. Also, after a long day it makes taking your makeup off a real reset experience and makes me feel ready and refreshed for a cosy evening in front of the TV. I love all those citrussy smells and this feels like a little spa in a jar.

ESPA Yuzu & Ginger Cleansing Sorbet Texture

The texture is really fun. It kind of reminds of a slightly thinner lemon curd (remember that?) and it melts into the skin really luxuriously. It has a thick enough texture to spend a bit of time massaging it into the skin as it then melts into a lovely oil.

With a splash of water, it turns into a silky milks that loosens up all the impurities, ready to rinse it all away. It comes with a really good dual sided wash cloth for removal.

Rejuvenating Night Cream

This has just come back in stock after being sold out for quite some time so this is perfect timing. It’s a soothing, rich and comforting moisturiser, ideal for the colder months and if you use this at night, you’ll wake up with firm, plumped up skin.

The Rejuvenating Night Cream is brilliant for targeting fine lines and wrinkles as it uses Hazelnut peptides which contain amino acids present in the skin’s natural moisturising factors, such as arginine, aspartic acid and glutamic acid which visibly volumise the skin.

Ultramoor Mud Mask

This is one of my ultimate skin care products and I am never without it. If you ever feel like your skin needs an instant boost, this mask is the one to reach for. I swear by it.

If I ever have any texture, or extra visible pores, this smooths and perfects my skin in one 15 minute application. It truly is like a purifying facial in a jar and the glow it gives is amazing.

Queen Serum

This is instant glow in a bottle and is one to go for if you want to target lines and wrinkles. It uses Mediterranean Microalgae which has a unique ability to selectively bind to the skin’s deeper retinol receptors to reduce wrinkle depth, firm and tighten whilst avoiding surface level irritation.

I find this so effective that if I am feeling a bit extravagant, and I am showing a bit more skin than usual like arms and leg, a quick layer of this over any exposed skin literally shaves off years. If I’m showing a bit of leg, this will always get me compliments. It’s an extravagant move, but it totally works!!

Queen of Hungary Mist

This is hands down the best face mist I have ever used. I absolutely adore it. The formula is soothing, calming and supremely hydrating, and the mist itself is cloud like and almost ethereal. It really cannot be beaten!

It’s a true multi-tasker and can be used post-cleanse as a toner, to prep
skin pre-makeup, and you can also spritz it frequently throughout the day whenever your skin feels like it need a refreshing hydration boost. If you have never tried it, now is the time.

Daily Vitamin C

A Vitamin C serum is an essential part of my daytime skincare routine, and this one from Omorovicza is absolutely excellent. Whenever I use it consistently, I find that is quickly brightens my skin and really helps to even out my skin tone.

It uses an incredibly stable form of Vitamin C, that is long-acting on the skin and also delivers a hefty shot of Hyaluronic Acid. There’s also niacinamide to smooth, soothe and perfect. It’s fabulous.
