My Review of the La Mer Advent Calendar 2024

This has always been one of the most stalked calendars by the hard core La Mer fans. It comes in exclusive limited quantities and the design is always beautiful.

The first year it launched, it appeared online and sold out instantly, so if you managed to grab one, you were very lucky indeed! The execution is always superbly elegant and beautifully packaged. The ultimate treat.

I love that they have made this a regular thing because La Mer are there at the top of the tree when it comes to luxury! The 2024 edition is their sixth Beauty Advent Calendar and it’s the best one yet in terms of value.

It’s pricey but so so beautiful and an amazing way to stock up on La Mer essentials, or to discover your new obsession. This year we get full sizes of the Lip Balm (which happens to be my ultimate lip balm) and also the very gorgeous Lip Scrub. They are a brilliant duo. Plus there are full sizes (15ml) of a range of La Mer moisturisers.

My Review of the Space NK Edits Beauty Bags

I absolutely love these edits. Apart from the fact that they come in super cute beauty bags – I am obsessed with that white with those pops of colour – each bag really does offer up brilliant value for money.

The Space NK Beauty Edit in the skincare variety is fab because it offers up a really good value saving and represents pretty much a complete routine. It’s a great opportunity to discover new products without having to splash out on all full sizes. My favourite products in this bag are the cleansers. I asbsolutely love the Then I Met You cleansing balm and the Tatcha Cleansing Oil.

I also love the Space NK Beauty Edit in the haircare variety. There are so many of my faves in there. I love the JVN Airdry Cream, the Colorwow Dreamcoat, the Sam McKnight Cool Girl, and the Virtue Oil. It’s such a great mix.

The Space NK Beauty Edit in the makeup variety also includes some favourites. The Hourglass mascara is one of the best tubing mascaras out there, and the Milk Setting Spray is one of my absolute favourites.

As these will make such great Christmas presents, I’d imagine they will sell out really quickly, so don’t hang around!

If you are looking for a great Fragrance edit, you cannot go wrong with this year’s Space NK Fragrance Advent Calendar, which is still in stock but I can’t imagine for very much longer. Don’t miss out on that because the Harrods and Harvey Nichols editions are sold out already.

I love an easy to use, shiny sheer lip and this one really ticks all the boxes. It’s lovely! In terms of ease, these are the kind of products you can grab from your handbag and swipe on a top up without needing a mirror, and it really doesn’t get any easier than that!

Also the Violette FR Bisou Jelly is a lovely sturdy product. When you first look at them, they look like you might have to apply really gently in case the bullet collapses and you apply more than you need. However, the formula has a lovely firmness and you can apply boldly without any fear of making a mess. It really holds its own.

It terms of texture, it feels nice and moisturising, so you could easily reach for one of these instead if your regular lip balm. And because it’s a sheer and naturally flattering kind of finish, it looks great even without any other makeup.

The selection of shades is really pretty. I love them all. They all offer a soft hint of colour that can be subtly intensified with Pomme d’Amour being the most ‘poppy’ shade.

They are all so wearable, however, I think that Aïssa is possibly my favourite, and I don’t think I am alone as this is the shade that is currently sold out. If you love a nude tone, Bonbon Caramel will be right up your street. It’s like a lovely sheer 90s nude and would look stunning with a lip liner if you wanted a more ‘makeup-y’ look.

It has been a long time since I have tried something new from Ormonde Jayne so I was delighted to received the latest Eau de Parfum inspired by the Himalayan valleys. Here’s the low down on Ormonde Jayne Kashmir.

What is Ormonde Jayne Kashmir?

Kashmir is a unisex fragrance and classified as a warm woody.

Its inspiration comes from the snowy glaciers and lakes in the Himalayan valleys that are rich in Deodar trees. During the summer, the valleys are also home to rare blue poppies and Kashmiri saffron which also feature in the fragrance.

The focus of the scent of is the woody hypnotic note of the Deodar cedar tree. Alongside the Blue Poppy in the heart, there’s a soft blend of iris, rose and jasmine.

Fragrance Notes – Ormonde Jayne Kashmir

Top Notes: Bergamot, Cardamom, Coriander Seed, Saffron, Pink Pepper

Heart Notes: Jasmine, Iris, Rose, Blue Poppy, Himalayan Fir

Base Notes: Deodar, Sandalwood, Cashmeran, Benzoin, Vanilla, Patchouli, Incense, Myrrh, Musk

First of all, I absolutely love the packaging. It comes in an orange box with a sleeve and the bottle is just beautiful. It feels heavy and luxurious, and the colour, a graded orange shade, is just stunning. The silver cap feels really weighty and solid.

I think this is a great scent for Autumn. It is warm and woody and subtly spicy, softened from within by very gentle floral tones. It has a very soothing and calming vibe, perfect for this time of year.

Ormonde Jayne Kashmir is woody but in a different way to a lot of woody fragrances I have tried. I think that’s down to the Himalayan Cedar it uses, called Deodar which has a freshness that comes from mountain air.

It has quite a bright start with bergamot, saffron, pink pepper and coriander with a soft spiciness. As it develops, a very subtle rose comes through, just a hint, along with jasmine and iris which gives a kind of powdery quality.

It has warm and creamy dry down that’s very skin-like and comforting. This is the Deodar cedar and sandalwood with the very soft sweetness of vanilla.

The full effect for me is something that makes me think of someone coming in from the cold with the smell of fresh, clean hair, if you know what I mean? You know the way that cold air accentuates certain scents? It is crisp and clean yet still warm and woody, which I think makes it pretty unique.

I’d say this is a fairly subtle fragrance and there is nothing overpowering about it. More of a personal fragrance than one that says hello before you do, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t long lasting. I can smell it at arm’s length for a good couple of hours after first spraying, and I can still smell it softly on my skin at the end of the day.

I think it’s perfect for the colder seasons, but I can also see this as a year-round fragrance. I’m a fan.
