Do You Struggle Getting Your Eyeliner Straight & Even? You NEED The Beauty Blender Liner Designer!

I had a conversation with a friend the other day which involved muttering the immortal line “does anyone even *wear* khol anymore?” Liquid eyeliner has definitely had its moment over the last couple of years, with statement big winged looks being the makeup skill most desired; it may have started with Sofia Loren, but it’s evolved into something incredibly modern and edgy – it’s the simplest way to finish your look and add a subtle twist to ‘no makeup makeup’. I’m a big fan of the wing, but it’s taken me an age to pick up the skills required to make it half decent: get the angle wrong, the length too big or the symmetry completely wonky and it’s all ruined. How many mornings have you spent trying to even out your liner in the mirror, just for the whole look to keep getting bigger and bigger until you resemble a Winehouse tribute act? Well, if that’s a common issue for you then you simply NEED this little gadget from Beauty Blender in your life – because, *dramatic voice* let me assure you, it will change it.

This unassuming little rubber triangle (rather fetchingly called Beauty Blender Liner Designer and looks closer to a guitar pick than I’d probably like,) can be placed along the base of the lower lid to create the perfect angle for your flick. You simply place it where you need it to go and draw along the edge using your eyeliner pen, paying attention to the length of the flick; because of the texture and material it’s impossible for it to bleed or smudge, leaving behind a clean and sharp line that’s incomparable to what I can achieve freehand. Replicate this on the other side, using the line you’ve already drawn and the residue on the tool (you can see the line on the edge, so you can use that as a guide on the other eye!) to create the most symmetrical pair of wings you’ll have ever seen.

Although it’s a little flimsy piece of plastic, it does come in a case to prevent it from getting dirty or lost – which also features a handy mirror if you need to use one on the go. The Liner Designer is easy to wash by running it under the sink or cleaning with a face wipe, ensuring it’s reusable and probably going to last you for as long as you can find it. At £10.00 it does seem expensive for a little triangle of rubber, but the idea and ease of use makes it thoroughly worth that crisp ten pound note; I honestly don’t know how I used to create flicks without this! If you’re feeling thrifty you could probably create your own or find one on eBay for a fraction of the price, but I’m all over this like a rash. Those little things you never knew you needed eh?

The Beauty Blender Liner Designer is available online, priced from £10.00

Duck & Dry – When Salon Haircare Meets Eco Ingredients.

I wasn’t familiar with Duck & Dry at all before being introduced just a few weeks ago, and with good reason, I don’t live in London. Duck & Dry is a LDN based blow dry bar that specializes in the perfect blow dry and signature up-do styles. D&D have recently expanded their nest and launched a fledgling range of products (the bird puns just keep’a comin’) designed to help give you professional blow dry results at home.

I have been testing the first two products to be released (another four will launch soon) and have been very impressed. I think haircare is often as hard to get right as skincare, there is so much to take into consideration… oily scalp, coloured, thin, course, dry, damaged, sensitive, short, long… so. much. Whilst there are quite a few good options for natural haircare available, especially shampoo and conditioner, I am often left disappointed overall because the performance and technology is lagging behind when compared to makeup and skincare. There are so few new releases for haircare in the green industry, maybe three or four good ones a year compared to the weekly launches of new lip shines and face oils. This makes it all the more exciting when a new brand joins the family, and it helps that this time, technology is in play and these products work.

The Blow Dry In A Bottle Mega Volume Spray has been heaven for my flat and heavy bob. I have quite a lot of hair that always needs thinning and cutting into a hell of a lot, and it’s been quite a while since my last cut now so things are getting a little overgrown and heavy once more. A spritz of the Mega Volume Spray through my roots after washing, plus a quick blast of heat and we’re looking bouncy and fresh once more. I love using this when I know I’m going to curl my hair the next day as it also adds a bit of texture too – all without feeling crispy or greasy. White nettle, honey locust and ginseng work to boost volume and combat oil product without the need for any harsh ingredients, too. Plus it smells real good, exactly like the hairdressers.

The Instant TLC Leave-In Weightless Conditioner is another gem. I don’t use conditioner in the shower these days as it just weighs down my locks, instead I apply some leave in conditioner afterwards to lightly condition and smooth, add shine and detangle. I have been really pleasantly surprised with the Instant TLC, it’s incredibly light and works really well for me. I think the packaging has a big role to play here as the spray is very fine and it distributes the product perfectly. The conditioner seems quite thick (it contains shea butter and coconut oil), at least too thick for the spray so it does get a little clogged sometimes, but without the fine mist it just wouldn’t work as well so it’s a small price to pay.

I’m quite smitten with my two new Duck & Dry haircare additions and can’t wait to see the rest of the range now. Are you intrigued?

Clinique Chubby Stick Baby Tint

Clinique Baby Tint

One more major surprise from Clinique and I’ll need a large brandy! Meet Clinique Chubby Stick Baby Tint Moisturizing Lip Colour Balms! I’m obsessed already – they’re the sheerest of tinted balms that does that warming-to-the-lip colour change thing so each one will be a little different on everyone.

Clinique Baby Tint

When I first applied, I couldn’t quite see the point – they’re so sheer as to be initially colourless. However, five minutes in and I had a lovely peachy tint to my lips so they really do work very well and my instant thought was that these are going to be great holiday tints when you want minimal make-up but need a little something. Shades from pink and along: Coming Up Rosy, Budding Blossom, Flowering Freesia and Poppin Poppy.

Clinique Baby Tint Swatch

The swatch shows that the Clinique Chubby Stick Baby Tint is very, very sheer to begin with, but they soon warm up to a more saturated, but still sheer, colour.

Clinique is picking up so many Asian influences at the moment.. first with the Clinique Even Better Essence, and now with Baby Tints – and in homage:

Clinique Baby Tint

Clinique, you are officially Kawaii!

The Clinique Chubby Stick Baby Tint Moisturizing Lip Colour Balms launch on 1st August for £17 each.
