Predicting The Sell Outs for Colour Crush Nails

Body Shop Colour Crush

Eek.. it’s nerve wracking, this trend prediction thing! When I did my nail day at #LFW with The Body Shop, nail artist Glenis Baptiste gave me lots of encouragement. I knew I wouldn’t have to do any real shaping backstage but nonetheless, I wanted to know what shape nails are heading for this season. Thankfully, it’s the good old squoval, because, as Glenis points out, “it’s easy to maintain and suits more nails beds, whether they’re small or large.”  Although at the shows there were some pointy nails around, it’s quite a hard look to maintain because it needs to be perfect. Break one nail and all the points have to come off!

Colour Crush Nails

Anyway, The Body Shop asked me to predict which colours from their new Colour Crush collection I thought would be the top sellers. I’ve picked them out above, and we’ll revist in around December time to see whether I got any right at all. I’d love to know what you think – do they look like best sellers to you?

Tony Moly!

TONYMOLY korean beauty

Can we just have a very brief chat about TONYMOLY, the South Korean beauty brand that’s just landed at Cult Beauty? I hear amazing things about the formulas (and so far, I am very impressed with the Cherry Lip Balm and the Panda’s Dream Eye Stick) but it’s the packaging that I find irresistible. I know that it shouldn’t appeal to me, being over the age of twelve, but it absolutely does. See the stalk of the cherry? It’s rubbery and it wobbles. And don’t even get me started on the panda…

Has anyone tried any products from TONYMOLY? I’m particularly intrigued by the Luminous Aura Goddess Beam and the Choco Mushroom Cream Pore Pack. (The latter, I’ll admit, purely for the toadstool-shaped tub.)

I’ll be back with updates on the bits and pieces in the photo – until then, you can find them at Cult Beauty here. The Panda’s Dream “So Cool Eye Stick” is £10 and the Cherry Lip Balm is £8. Not a bad idea for stocking fillers if you’re still searching for nice things! Continue reading

Show notes
Beauty Science or Bull Sh*t
In this new game, I give Perry 3 beauty science news stories and he has to tell the real from the fake. You can play along at home – just hit the pause button before I give the answer and see if you can outsmart Perry. Here are this week’s headlines, can you tell which one is TRUE?

1. Researchers have developed a vegetable alternative to petroleum based aerosol propellants.
2. Researchers have created the first detailed 3D model of curly hair.
3. Researchers have increased skin lotion stability with oil droplets shaped like hamburger buns.

Question of the week: Does the skin’s acid mantle affect how AHA products work?
BrainyBimbo asks…I’ve been told hydroxy acid products have to be in a certain pH range to work. But I’ve used products that were NOT in that range and they seemed to work for me. Is it possible that my personal skin acid mantle changed the pH of the products so they would work? Continue reading
