Before and After Photos

Shade 2 is the best match to my natural skin tone, and this is the one I choose when I am going to wear full makeup.

If I am just going to wear the foundation tint on its own with no bronzer or blush etc., I use shade 2.5 as it warms up my complexion and matches more to my fake tan on my body. You can see both shades applied below.

How to use it

You can use this as the final step in your skincare routine. You need to shake it well before use, and if you’re using it as your sole sunscreen product, be sure to use a full quarter teaspoon (3 fingers) dose.

If you’re using this more as makeup over a dedicated sunscreen, you can use as much as you like.

You can apply it with fingers or a brush (I use my REESON No. 1 Brush) and it can be layered up to achieve the coverage you want.

Naked Sundays recommend you allow the SPF foundation tint 2-3 minutes to fully absorb before continuing with the rest of your makeup.

My Review

My Review of Naked Sundays BeautyScreen SPF50 Peptide Foundation Tint
My Review of Naked Sundays BeautyScreen SPF50 Peptide Foundation Tint

I am always very excited to try out new complexion products, especially when they have really good sun protection in them. I consider using a high protection factor product daily to be the first step in anti-ageing, so it’s a non-negotiable for me.

I have tried a couple of products from Naked Sundays before, and liked them a lot – read Naked Sundays Review UK – Face & Body Mist, Mineral Sunscreen & Sun Serum – but with the first glance at this newness, I had even higher hopes.

BeautyScreen promises to be super lightweight and easy to blend, which are things I always look for in a complexion product.

First Impressions

The packaging is really nice. It’s a squeezy tube with a thin nozzle that you squeeze the product out of. It is neat and easy. The tube is nice and compact and so it fits nicely into my makeup bag which is great for top ups on the go.

Texture and Application

The texture of the Naked Sundays BeautyScreen SPF50 is really nice. It is thin and liquidy and spreads over the skin effortlessly. It feels super lightweight on the skin yet is really hydrating and comfortable. In terms of texture, it’s a win for me.

Finish and Coverage

The finish is also really nice. It gives the skin a lovely glow, and I’d say that it leans over to the dewy side without being overly shiny or greasy-looking. I think if you have oily skin, you may want to use a bit of powder. I have tried it with the KOSAS Cloud Set Loose Powder on the T-zone and the 2 products together work really well.

The coverage is really good and I’d say it’s a light to medium buildable coverage product, that layers easily to achieve the coverage you want. It’s great for covering redness and evening out skin tone, and you can build it up nicely without it going cakey.

It gives skin a really natural looking finish and coverage, so your skin looks like skin, just more even and perfected.

Wear Test

I set it with a small amount of powder and it wore really well. It didn’t break up or fade too quickly. I’d say it lasts a good 5 to 6 hours without any obvious signs of wear.

Obviously, it you want maintain the SPF50 protection, then you will need to top up every two hours and it is pretty easy to top up. It layers over existing makeup fairly effortlessly and I just needed to add a bit more of my REESON Bronzing Balm over the top once it has sunk in.

Alternatively, you could use an over makeup spray for top ups. Naked Sundays do one (Naked Sundays SPF50+ Hydrating Glow Mist*) and I am obsessed with the new Kopari Sunglaze Sheer Setting Mist Sunscreen SPF 50it just came back in stock, so check it out. The Garnier Over Makeup SPF50 Spray* is a good affordable alternative.

Final Thoughts

I think the Naked Sundays BeautyScreen SPF50 Peptide Foundation Tint is an absolutely excellent product and it’s a real step forward in hybrid beauty with its mix of high sun protection, anti-ageing skincare ingredients and complexion perfecting makeup. Honestly, it’s brilliant and ticks all the boxes for me.

One thing to note is that if you want to rely on this as your only SPF product, you will need to ensure that you use the right dose to achieve the SPF product and also make sure you top up 2 hourly. As I said, I love the Kopari Sunglaze Sheer Setting Mist Sunscreen SPF 50 for this.

Alternatively, you can use it as a skincare infused foundation product, over your dedicated SPF product (I am also loving Ultra Violette Future Fluid SPF 50+ Superlight Mineral Skinscreen) and have the extra piece of mind with that extra layer of SPF.

I actually think this is a great way to use products like these because I don’t think many of us use SPF over the eye area properly. With foundation, we tend to always cover that area, so products like these offer the protection that we don’t always allow ourselves.

Where to buy it

Naked Sundays BeautyScreen SPF50 Peptide Foundation Tint is £38 for 30ml and available now via the link below. It is set to launch at Sephora UK soon. Sign

My Review of Sweed Glass Skin Foundation

I have been testing out this foundation for a few days and I have to say, I like it a lot.

Packaging

The packaging is really nice. It’s a minimal and sleek plastic bottle that fits easily into your makeup bag. You simply squeeze out the product and it’s neat and mess-free.

Shades

There are 15 shades in the range which I have listed above. They are arranged across undertones which is always helpful and there’s a mix of warm, cool, and neutral. I’m usually a light neutral and I found my perfect match in shade 5, which blended seamlessly into my skin.

Application & Finish

I have been using a brush to apply this, as I do with all my foundations, and my favourite brush, my REESON No. 1* is perfect for it. It works especially well for this as it has a small end for concealing, and the Sweed Glass Skin Foundation can also be used like a concealer.

This formula blends effortlessly into the skin and it delivers a dewy but not oily finish. It give a flawless and healthy look to the skin, without the appearance of obvious makeup.

See the first time I applied the Sweed Glass Skin Foundation in the video below:

Coverage

This is a medium buildable formula and I find that a little goes quite a long way and can very quickly even out the skin, cover redness and blur out imperfections. You can build up coverage really easily by adding a light layer so it actually doubles really nicely as a concealer.

Wear Test

On my combination skin, this wore beautifully throughout the day. I got a good 8 hours of glowy wear, with no clinging or patchiness.

Dry skins will love this, and if you are oily, you might want to set it with a bit of powder.

Final Thoughts

I’m impressed with the Sweed Glass Skin Foundation and it pretty much gives me everything I want from a dewy base. There’s glow, comfort, hydration, and you just get that that effortless your-skin-but-better look.

If you love radiant, lightweight, skincare-infused foundations, I think you could love this.

If you are looking to try any other Sweed products, I also love their Lash Serum. For more info on that, read Sweed Beauty Eyelash Growth Serum Review.

How to Choose the Right Foundation for Your Skin Type

*Links marked with asterisks are affiliate links, these help Ree with running costs of the blog

Choosing the right foundation is key to complexion perfection and will be an absolute game-changer for your makeup routine. But there are so many options out there which can make it feel completely overwhelming! You need to choose a formula that complements your skin type for a flawless, natural finish. In this guide, I’ll help you identify the best foundation for your skin’s needs.

Step 1: Identify Your Skin Type

Skin Type guide
Skin Type guide

How to choose the right foundation

It’s important to understand your skin type when understanding how to choose the right foundation:

Skin Types and Skin Conditions are two different things and it is important to understand that. Knowing what Skin Type you are will help you greatly when buying your skincare and makeup.

Normal Skin

The skin looks healthy clear and fresh. A normal skin type is neither oily or dry and is usually free from congestion and blemishes.

Dry Skin

This skin can thin and fine and is lacking in sebum and is prone to premature wrinkling. The skin will feel tight after washing and may have dry, flaky patches.

Oily Skin

The skin looks shiny and can be slightly sallow-looking from the excess sebum that is produced. Enlarged pores can be visible and skin could be prone to clogged pores. Oily skin tends to age slower, the excess sebum can help lubricate the skin through the ageing process.

Combination Skin

The skin has areas of dry, greasy and normal skin. Usually the forehead, nose and chin (T-Zone) are oily, leaving dryer areas around the eyes and cheeks.

Sensitive Skin

The skin is often dry, delicate and reddens very easily. Hereditary factors may be the cause of sensitivity as well as environmental or topical use of products.

Mature Skin

Mature skin refers to skin that shows signs of ageing which can include wrinkles, fine lines, and a lack of firmness. You may find that skin is dryer and needs a bit more hydration.

For more help with identifying your skin type, read: How to Work Out Your Skin Type – The Ultimate Guide & What Products You Need.

Step 2: Choose the Right Formula

Once you have identified your skin type, how to choose the right foundation comes down to finding formulations that best match it.

Foundation Formulas for Normal Skin

You have the flexibility to choose from a variety of finishes, from matte to dewy. This one is simple, so it’s just up to you to choose the finish you want.

My favourite foundations for a dewy finish are NARS Light Reflecting Foundation and Shiseido Revitalessence Skin Glow Foundation SPF 30.

For a more matte look, I love e.l.f. Cosmetics Soft Glam Satin Foundation and Anastasia Beverly Hills Impeccable Blurring Second Skin Matte Foundation.

Foundation Formulas for Dry Skin

How to choose the right foundation for dry skin

Choose hydrating, dewy-finish foundations with ingredients like hyaluronic acid. Here’s are some of my favourite foundations for dry skin:

  • Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear Care and Glow Foundation
  • NARS Light Reflecting Foundation
  • Cle de Peau Radiant Cream Foundation

  • Maybelline Superstay 24Hr Skin Tint + Vitamin C
  • Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Gel Tint
  • Estee Lauder Futurist Hydra Rescue Moisturizing Makeup
  • Charlotte Tilbury Charlotte’s Beautiful Skin Foundation

Foundation Formulas for Oily Skin

How to choose the right foundation for oily skin

Opt for oil-free, mattifying foundations such as powder or long-wear liquid formulas. Here are some of my favourite options for oily skin:

  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Impeccable Blurring Second Skin Matte Foundation
  • IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream Natural Matte SPF40
  • ILIA Skin Rewind Complexion Stick

  • NARS Soft Matte Complete Foundation Review
  • bareMinerals BarePro 24HR Wear Skin-Perfecting Matte Liquid Foundation Mineral SPF 20
  • Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation
  • Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Foundation

Foundation Formulas for Combination Skin

  • e.l.f. Cosmetics Soft Glam Satin Foundation
  • Sisley Phyto-Teint Nude Foundation
  • Haus Labs Triclone Skin Tech Foundation

Step 3: Find Your Perfect Shade

Choose the right foundation for your skin tone and type
Choose the right foundation for your skin tone and type

Once you have picked your formula, choosing a shade is the last step in how to choose the right foundation for you.

Here are my top tips:

  • Test foundation on your jawline in natural light.
  • Determine your undertone (cool, warm, or neutral) to find the most flattering shade
  • Consider seasonal changes as your skin tone may shift slightly between summer and winter

A lot of getting the right shade is trial and error, and in every blog post I have shared with you in this round up, there will be a range of different shade swatches for you to check out.

Step 4: Application Tips for a Flawless Finish

Personally, I love to use a brush to apply and blend my foundation and my favourite is the one I made for my brand, the REESON No. 1 Brush.

My best tip is to have one brush to apply and then another clean brush to buff away excess product. This technique means you will never look cakey and you will achieve the most flawless and natural looking result.

Check out this video to demonstrate:

Kosas Cloud Set Translucent Loose Setting & Blurring Powder Review

I got a sneak peek at the new Kosas Cloud Set Translucent Loose Setting & Blurring Powder and wanted to share it with you. Here’s what you need to know.

What is Kosas Cloud Set Translucent Loose Setting & Blurring Powder?

Kosas Cloud Set Translucent Loose Setting & Blurring Powder in Candy
Kosas Cloud Set Translucent Loose Setting & Blurring Powder in Candy

This is a brand new setting powder from Kosas:

  • Ultra-translucent setting and baking powder
  • Formulated to last for 12 hours
  • Designed to blur, brighten and give a natural matte finish
  • Allows skin to keep its glow
  • Uses bamboo stem extract to help absorb excess sebum
  • Available in four shades

How to use it

To Bake – Use a puff to apply a generous layer of powder where you experience the most creasing or oil breakthrough. Let sit for a few minutes and then brush off excess.

To Set – Dust a light layer of product all over face, focusing on areas where you experience the most oil breakthrough.

Swatch

There are four shades in the Kosas Cloud Set Translucent Loose Setting & Blurring Powder. I have shade Candy:

My Review

Kosas Cloud Set Translucent Loose Setting & Blurring Powder Texture (Candy)
Kosas Cloud Set Translucent Loose Setting & Blurring Powder Texture (Candy)

I have to start by saying, I am not big on powder, and I have never baked my makeup in my life, so I am really not the target customer for this product! But having said that, because I love to use super glowy products, a powder can come in handy to take down the shine in certain places. The Kosas Cloud Set Translucent is great for this.

I haven’t used this product it ‘bake’ yet, and I most likely never will, but as a setting powder, this gives my skin a really pretty finish, without looking cakey, dry or over-done.

Before and After Photos

I took some pictures of how this looks under my eyes, which I find is the trickiest area to use powder without it settling into lines. And the good news is that I really liked how it looked.

Kosas Cloud Set Translucent Loose Setting & Blurring Powderbefore photo (Candy)
Before
Kosas Cloud Set Translucent Loose Setting & Blurring Powder after photo (Candy)
After – shade Candy

I think that the pink shade, Candy, that I have works really well for brightening the under-eye area.

It has a good blurring effect on the skin, which I notice most on the areas where I don’t use my REESON Bronzing Balm (because that really blurs the skin on its own very well). Read all about that in REESON Beauty Bronzing Balm Review & Swatches.

I used a small fluffy brush to apply, but if you wanted more coverage you could press on the product with a puff. Coverage with powder is not what I am looking for, so it’s hard for me to judge it on that front.

For light powdering, I think this is a really lovely product, especially for under my eyes in this pink Candy shade.

Kosas Cloud Set Translucent Loose Setting & Blurring Powder packaging
Kosas Cloud Set Translucent Loose Setting & Blurring Powder packaging

In terms of the packaging, I love the fact that it has an inner lid to control the powder, because I generally find loose powders so messy.

My Review

My Review of Guerlain Terracotta Le Teint Glow Healthy Glow Foundation
My Review of Guerlain Terracotta Le Teint Glow Healthy Glow Foundation

First of all, I have to say, I love how easily this foundation applies. It is literally effortless and take absolutely no work to achieve a flawless finish. It is a complete joy to apply.

It is super light and hydrating on the skin, and actually feels like skincare as it is going on. You can see that it gives a nice plumping effect on the complexion, and it really makes my skin look lovely and fresh and healthy.

The formula is nice and buildable. It’s a medium and you can definitely build it to full, but it still looks natural even when you do. I love how smooth it makes my skin look and it’s super forgiving on any texture and lines. It’s just flawless.

It terms of finish – there’s radiance but it’s not overly shiny or dewy. It makes skin so plump and healthy looking but it is definitely not shiny. It is quite glowy when first applied, but it does dry down quite a bit, and the glow recedes a little, but it stays really flawless looking. I don’t powder it which I think helps it to keep more glow as the day goes on.

It definitely has a naturally radiant finish, but it’s not dewy per se and considering it is called Guerlain Terracotta Le Teint Glow, I was expecting more glow. Having said that, it is probably the kind of finish that a lot of people are looking for.

Throughout the day, it wears so well. I find that by the end of the day, my skin still looks pretty flawless and it doesn’t fade at all or go patchy. It really is an excellent performer.

Also, I absolutely LOVE the packaging. The glass bottle design is so chic, and it is certainly the most beautiful foundation bottle I have seen in a long time. I literally love everything about it. Plus it is recyclable and contains 25% recycled glass.

All in all, I am pretty obsessed with this, and will be reaching for this for days out and also evenings when I want a flawless finish. Bravo Guerlain!
