BioEffect Daytime

Bioeffect Daytime

Bioeffect Daytime

If you’ve read my blog for a while, you’ll know I rave and rave about BioEffect Serum, which doesn’t come without controversy. BioEffect uses barley derived EGF (epidermal growth factor) and there’s genuinely nothing like it for a whack of glow to your skin. I’ve looked at all the QVC reviews on this and it’s a mixed bunch, so what I can say is that it certainly suits my skin. But, EGF itself causes great debate on-line – everyone has natural EGF but there is a line of thought that EGF applied to the skin can cause cells to work in different ways. All I can say is that I love this product, I feel it is safe, but you must do your own careful research and draw your own conclusions.

With that said, Bioeffect’s newest launch is a day cream for dry skin. BioEffect Daytime looks like a glossy, loose cream in the pot, but actually once you dive in has more of a cold cream texture so doesn’t exactly glide across the complexion. However, in terms of keeping your skin hydrated, it’s stellar. I used this as soon as I got it and didn’t need to moisturise again for 24 hours. For testing, I cleansed using CeraVe Cream Cleanser, and did not apply a night cream – I wanted to see how long I could hold the benefits for. I’m really impressed with it.

Checking on the ingredients, barley extract and shea butter are in the mix.. shea is a well known moisturiser and I suspect that is what is doing the work here, but it does also contain EGF cellular activator, the results of which won’t be noticable on a two day trial. All I can say is that so far, I haven’t had a product from Bioeffect that hasn’t done good things for my skin – it seems to deliver extremely well, but do do your research first.

Bioeffect Daytime launches in September – everything from BioEffect is expensive, and Daytime is no different at £55 for a small pot. It launches in October.

A Blog-Appropriate T-Shirt and a Breastfeeding Question

whistles beaute t shirt

I thought that this t-shirt was rather appropriate, considering my passion for all things beauty. I’m not quite sure whether the huge letters on the chest distract attention away from my rather matronly bosom or make a feature of it: either way, I like this t-shirt and (as is my way) will probably wear it non-stop for the rest of the week.

Someone asked me in the comments on the Chunky Jumper Post whether it would be possible to breastfeed wearing one; I know this is probably more a discussion for The Uphill but I’ll briefly touch on it here, too, because it’s actually really bloody hard to find things to easily breastfeed in until you’ve got into the swing of things. Dresses (unless they’re shirt dresses) are totally out (unless you enjoy sitting in your pants with a load of fabric bunched up by your ears), but when it comes to tops it’s amazing how adaptable things can be. Shirts can be unbuttoned slightly and are therefore relatively easy-access anyway; loose vest-tops can be pulled downwards if you find the right cut, and when it comes to t-shirts (like the above) or sweaters (like the ones here), if you’ve got something good on beneath them, you just hike ’em up from the hem and away you go. Underneath you’ll want something that’ll cover your tum but allow you to make the chest accessible. H&M do good-ish vest-tops, but then there’s this genius little thing called the Breast Vest that keeps your bra region fabric-free whilst covering the rest of your middle. You can find them online here.

Update: ha! Just seen that I’m doing exactly the same pose in this photo as in my last picture for the jumpers post. So much for variety – I must be a little bit out of practice…

Sunday Tittle Tattle: Look Who’s In My Bathroom

Two very long videos for you, perfect viewing for a lazy Sunday afternoon. I feel honoured to be part of Sali Hughes’ In The Bathroom series, where she pokes about in people’s cupboards and drawers and manages to conduct rather in-depth interviews all at the same time…

If you ever wanted a “crash course in Crilly” then now is your chance, because we chat about everything from my early modelling years to juggling work and motherhood; from nipple sensitivity to the disadvantages of an en suite. There are very few stones left unturned.

I’m not going to write very much more for this Sunday Tittle Tattle, because you’re about to spend over two hours listening to me talking, but please do give the videos a “like” and leave a comment! You can find all of Sali’s In The Bathroom series on Youtube here. Annoyingly, my website won’t let me embed both videos on this page, so when you’ve finished watching part one below, click here for part two!

4 Ways to Wear Colorful Eyeshadow to Work

color-at-work-2

I know many of you wear neutral eyeshadows every day to work (which is totally ok), but I’m hoping to get you to branch out and wear some colors during your work week!  You can wear colors, but it’s all in how and where you place the color.

Here’s my 4 tips for wearing colors:

  1. Pick just 1 color and apply it to 1 part of the eye.  So either along the lashline OR in the inner tear duct OR on the outer part of the eye.  1 color, 1 place.  I call it “strategic placement”.
  2. Always pair a color with a neutral.  Having a neutral surrounding a color automatically tones it down and makes it more work appropriate.
  3. Pick a color that is light to medium in color.  The darker the color, the more dramatic it is.  (If you want to wear a dark color, keep it close to the lashline)
  4. If you’re afraid of color, start with purples or greens.   Because these colors aren’t too vivid and look great on every skin and eye color, they’re a safe bet for being more daytime appropriate.  (think of blue and orange- not really the most safe colors for makeup! haha)
