K18 AirWash Dry Shampoo Review

There has been a big buzz around the K18 haircare brand since it launched. It’s all about science-backed solutions for your hair and they seem to be shaking up the haircare industry. So naturally, when I got my hands on the new K18 AirWash Dry Shampoo, I couldn’t wait to see if it lives up to the hype. Here’s what you need to know.

What is K18 AirWash Dry Shampoo?

What is K18 AirWash Dry Shampoo?
What is K18 AirWash Dry Shampoo?

K18’s AirWash is not your average dry shampoo because first off, it’s not dry! This is a liquid formula that’s designed to refresh hair and scalp without buildup.

The formula uses K18’s patented peptide technology to keep hair healthier while delivering that just-washed feel:

  • Aerosol-free dry shampoo formula
  • Comes in an eco-friendly pump bottle
  • Nozzle dispenses a fine, lightweight powder
  • Works to clean and revive hair
  • Uses newly patented odorBIND smart-release biotechnology
  • Clinically eliminates odours
  • Reduces oil
  • Supports a healthy scalp and balances sebum
  • Leaves hair feeling and looking clean
  • Claims to keep working for up to 3 days
  • Highly concentrated so you can go longer in between washes

Key Ingredients & Benefits

Translucent, porous microbeads – absorbs excessive oil without buildup, or visible residue for up to 3 days

odorBIND™ smart-release biotechnology – actually recognises and captures odour-causing sweat and oil molecules and eliminates them. It then replaces the odour with a subtle, fragrance.

Biotech-derived mediterranean microalgae – to balance scalp and control excess oil production over time.

How To Use It

This dry shampoo is pretty easy to use. All you have to do is shake it up really well, and then spritz it into the roots from about 10 to 15cm away. Next, massage it in and brush through. Done!

I use about three pumps per section because I have thick hair. If you have fine hair, I think one pump would be ample.

My Review

K18 AirWash Dry Shampoo Review
K18 AirWash Dry Shampoo Review

I have been giving the K18 AirWash Dry Shampoo formula a go for about a month, and I have to say, it is pretty impressive. The fact that it’s a liquid formulation of a dry shampoo is very interesting. It does initially make the hair feel slightly damp, but it is never wet enough to mess up the style, and it dries down super fast, almost as if it was never there.

I really like it because it makes my hair feel much cleaner, without adding any texture, and its effects are pretty long lasting. It is really effective at absorbing oil and it doesn’t leave a white cast in the hair, even though if you spray it on skin, it does dry to a white powder.

It’s easy to run my fingers through my hair after it’s applied, especially if I don’t use too much, and it feels like there’s nothing in my hair at all. If it does have a texture, it’s because I’ve used too much. As I said in the How to Use section above, I use about three sprays per section as I have thick hair. One spray per section will suffice if you have fine hair.

K18 AirWash Dry Shampoo provides subtle volume but is definitely more of a cleansing product than a styling one. So if you’re looking for something to add shape and movement, you probably want a dry shampoo that’s more of a texture spray, like the Oribe Dry Shampoo*.

Having been using this for about a month, I think that this bottle will probably last longer than an aerosol dry shampoo, which is good to know, because at £48 a bottle, it’s really expensive!

Packaging and Application

K18 AirWash Dry Shampoo packaging
K18 AirWash Dry Shampoo packaging

The matte white bottle with minimalist black branding feels modern and kind of clinically luxurious. It has a pump spray and I find that the nozzle can get a little build up, so it best to try and keep that clear to ensure the finest of mists.

Application is nice and precise and it’s easy to target the roots without spraying product everywhere. When I applied it, the powder felt incredibly fine – almost weightless. You can easily massage it into the scalp without any chalky residue or white cast. If you have dark roots like mine, you know how crucial this is!

How Does It Perform?

The first thing I noticed after using the AirWash was how clean my hair felt. Not just less oily, but genuinely refreshed. It’s not often you can say that about a dry shampoo. The product absorbed oil beautifully while leaving my hair soft and touchable – no stiff or gritty texture in sight. As I said above, not over-applying is key for a weightless feel.

I like how this feels on my scalp. It actually feels like pretty much nothing on my scalp and doesn’t feel chalky or gritty.

Who is K18 AirWash Dry Shampoo For?

If you’re someone who stretches time between washes, this product should work really well for you. It’s perfect for those days when your hair feels a bit lackluster but doesn’t necessarily need a full wash. And because it’s so lightweight, it’s a great option for all hair types – even finer strands that tend to get weighed down easily.

K18 Airwash Dry Shampoo Before & After Video

Here’s quick before and after demo on unwashed and flat hat hair!

Will it cause buildup or white cast?

AirWash is designed to not leave buildup or white cast behind and it uses translucent microbeads to absorb oil. That said, less is more, so go slowly and only add more if you need it.

Will K18 AirWash Dry Shampoo clog scalp pores?

K18 have formulated this product without scalp-clogging ingredients to minimise excess buildup.

Does is double as a styling product?

I’d say this is purely a dry shampoo. It will add subtle volume but it’s not a styling product.

If K18 AirWash Dry Shampoo is damp when it is applied, will it ruin my style?

I have found that although this is a liquid formula, it only feels damp for a short time and it doesn’t interfere with how my hair is styled.

Final Thoughts

The K18 AirWash Dry Shampoo is going to be great if your hair gets greasy really easily, especially if you have fine hair. While it does come at a much higher price point than most alternatives, I think the benefits for a serious dry shampoo user could make it worth the money. I truly think it will be down to the individual.

My Review

e.l.f. Cosmetics Halo Glow Powder Filter Review
e.l.f. Cosmetics Halo Glow Powder Filter Review

I am a massive fan of the e.l.f. Cosmetics Soft Glam Foundation which I think you should definitely check out if you are looking for an affordable yet high performance soft matte foundation with buildable coverage. I have a full blog post with swatches of every shade: e.l.f. Cosmetics Soft Glam Satin Foundation Review and Swatches.

Because I have been loving that foundation, I was super keen to check out this new launch.

The e.l.f. Cosmetics Halo Glow Powder Filter is a pressed finishing powder designed to smooth out imperfections, blur pores, and give your skin a soft glow.

Application & Formula

The powder’s texture is smooth and finely milled, and it has an almost creamy texture when you swipe your fingertip across it. I used a small fluffy brush to apply it and I found that it picks up beautifully that way. There is a velour puff included in the compact, but I prefer to be a bit more precise when it comes to applying powder products, as I tend to be a bit of a powder-phobe!

The formula feels very light on the skin and I find that it can blur imperfections whilst retaining the skin’s luminosity and it doesn’t make it look too matte. I find that it doesn’t settle into fine lines or emphasise texture, which is a win for those who want a radiant finish without looking shiny or oily.

Performance

On application, the powder sets makeup really easily, and it softly takes down the shine without looking obviously powdery or matte, which is always my fear. I tested it on just half of my face, and it held up really well and helped my foundation stay in place well, in the areas I applied it.

Check out this half face demo:

Final Thoughts

The e.l.f. Cosmetics Halo Glow Powder Filter is an absolute must-try if you are looking for something super affordable that will gently set makeup without looking cakey or heavy. If you don’t like powder, but find that sometimes your mascara smudges or your concealer creases, it might be worth trying this. Use it under the eye area and over lids and you may find this really helps. I think it does a really good job, especially for the price.

Healthy Hair Check in

Happy New year! I hope everyone had a fantastic holiday break and a well deserved rest.

Starting 2025 off with a healthy hair check in. This post is a bit late but I know you will forgive me because it was Christmas!

So 8 months after my texture release and 12 months of a healthy hair routine, what has happened to my hair? And what have I learnt so far

Back in Aug I noticed some breakage around my crown area but I thought it may be due to the braids I had just taken out so I didn’t think too much of it. However over the next month, I kept noticing more breakage so I decided to visit the salon for some expert help. After speaking to my stylist about my routine, it became apparent that I was using too many protein rich products on my hair and since I wasn’t doing much to my hair during the week + my TR which was amino acids based it was protein overload and causing the breakage! I was using my Briogeo don’t despair repair too often! I decided to switch my routine and focus more on moisture and conditioning instead of strengthening. I booked a follow up app in Dec, 12 weeks time to see any changes.

I’m happy to say when I went back in Dec, the breakage was growing back and no further breakage! my hair also felt much better.

2024 was my year to rediscover my hair, focusing on restoring the health of my hair. I’m also happy to report my hair is back! look at my before & after pictures. I started my healthy hair journey in Jan 2024 with my 1st salon app in Feb, look at how dry and crusty my hair was! and this was after a deep moisture treatment! look at my hair now in Dec 2024! my hair looks and feels so much better!. My hair has improved so much! Whilst it may look like my hair didn’t grow much- it did! I had 4 trims in 2024 to get rid of a lot of dead hair

I reviewed a lot of products and you can go check them out but my routine was as follows:

wash- 7-10 days

deep condition with my thermal cap every 3 weeks focus on moisture.

deep condition every 6 weeks with a strengthening treatment OR olapex

clarify every 4 weeks

blow dry after every wash with a leave in, blow dry lotion and heat protectant

For 2025 i want to focus on length retention. My challenge is to grow my hair to waist length- I don’t have a time frame because I’m not going to sacrifice health over length so if I need to switch to focus on something else I will do so. Since its winter I’ve also gone into protective styling mode- no braids! From now until April I will be washing my hair every 2 weeks.

Conclusion

I’m really happy with the progress of my hair. Its so much healthier than 2023 and I can really start on my hair growth journey. I’m going to take the good practices I developed last year and keep on caring for my hair. Going to the salon once every quarter also helped tremendously and I will carry on with this and encourage my natural girles to start going to the salon if not already!

In 2024 I learnt braids as a protective style is not just my friend! even with human hair so I’m going to try to go this year without it. Also can I just say how proud I am of myself for having my hair out most of the time last year! I experimented with a lot of half up & downs thanks to Royale ponytails ( you need to check them out) here are some styles I loved PS that cornrow ponytail is actually a draw string ponytail! and I don’t even remember the last time I wore my own hair to a wedding! let alone 2!

After a year of blow-drying my hair, I did not experience any heat damage my hair grew and felt so much better when dried- no more AIR DRYING FOR ME! I did ‘backslide’ after one wash day back in the fall and airdried my hair(threaded) and never again! the difference was ALOT. My blow drying routine and products post will come soon!

Anyways, I don’t want to bore you with a super long post! Please check out my previous posts for more info and all the reviews of the products I’ve loved last year. I will carry with discovering better hair products so more reviews coming soon!

Here’s to 2025! May it be filled with favor, blessings, good hair & skin

catch you later

Blooming Blends Calm Tincture Review

As someone that is easily over-stimulated, finding a bit of calm in the day can be a tricky mission, however, I recently discovered the Blooming Blends Calm Tincture and am finding it very effective. Here’s what you need to know.

What is Blooming Blends Calm Tincture?

What is Blooming Blends Calm Tincture?
What is Blooming Blends Calm Tincture?
  • Soothing tincture to help guide you towards a sense of stillness and serenity
  • Uses a blend of comforting adaptogens
  • Designed to support your sense of inner balance and calm
  • Idea for travelling and times of stress or change
  • Soothes tension and balances worry and stress
  • Helps to keep you feeling grounded and calm

How to use it

Blooming Blends Calm Tincture - How to use it
Blooming Blends Calm Tincture – How to use it

Take 1/2 or a full pipette and drop the liquid under your tongue for rapid absorption. Alternatively you can drop it into water for a more diluted effect.

For sleep, you should take a full pipette before bed time. If you wake in the night, you can take another to help you drift back off to sleep.

My Review of Blooming Blends Calm Tincture

Blooming Blends Calm Tincture Review
Blooming Blends Calm Tincture Review

So I first tried this when I was at a press day with PuRe PR where they had kindly invited me to represent REESON to press and influencers. It was a super fun day but when I see a lot of people, and chat a lot, I get very easily over-stimulated, and can become what some would describe as manic!!

I was chatting to Kelly who is one of the PuRe founders and she noticed I was a bit… shall we say … over-excited and so recommended the Blooming Blends Calm Tincture which she was serendipitously PR-ing.

Blooming Blends Calm Tincture
Blooming Blends Calm Tincture

She popped a pipette in a little glass of water which I immediately drunk and then didn’t think much more of it. Not too long after, makeup artist Caroline Barnes (who I was sharing a room with) suddenly noticed that I had completely calmed down! Kim who I work with on REESON also confirmed that I seemed much more low-key! It was really quite funny because I went from being rather loud and in everyone’s faces to relatively serene (for me!).

I was inclined to say that there was a bit of placebo effect involved, but the fact of the matter is, I was so busy that I had completely forgotten I had taken it until Caroline remarked on my change of disposition.

Since then I have enjoyed using it before bed, or when I want to relax in the evenings and am finding it hard to unwind. It’s a gorgeous blend and actually tastes really nice, which makes it very easy to take.

All in all, this completely works as far as I am concerned. So if you are seeking a bit of calm, I couldn’t recommend this enough!

If you are looking for something specifically for sleep, this brand also has a sleep blend, but I haven’t tried it yet. One I do recommend is by Marie Reynolds. If you want to check that out read: Marie Reynolds Zedz Night Time Blend Sleep Supplement Review.
