Dyson Supersonic Travel Hair Dryer Review | Original Supersonic Comparison & First Look

If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ll know that I’m incredibly picky when it comes to hair tools. I have long, highlighted hair that can quickly become dry, frizzy and unmanageable if I use the wrong dryer, so when the Dyson Supersonic Travel Hair Dryer launched, I was desperate to see whether it could genuinely replace my full-sized dryer.

In this post I’m unboxing the new Dyson Supersonic Travel Hair Dryer, comparing it side-by-side with my original Supersonic, and sharing my first impressions. Here’s everything you need to know.

What is Dyson Supersonic Travel Hair Dryer?
What is Dyson Supersonic Travel Hair Dryer?

The Dyson Supersonic Travel Hair Dryer is Dyson’s first hair dryer designed specifically for travel. It’s smaller and lighter than the original Dyson Supersonic, while still featuring the brand’s intelligent heat control and high-speed motor technology.

One of its biggest selling points is its universal voltage, making it suitable for international travel without needing a separate dual-voltage hair dryer. That’s something Dyson owners have been requesting for years, as the original Supersonic is single voltage and isn’t designed for use worldwide.

The Travel version has been engineered to be 32% smaller and 25% lighter than the original Supersonic, making it much easier to fit into your hand luggage or suitcase without sacrificing Dyson’s premium design.

It launches in the beautiful Ceramic Pink and Rose Gold colourway and comes with the Styling Concentrator attachment, with compatibility across many existing Dyson Supersonic and Supersonic Nural attachments.

It’s one of the prettiest Dyson hair tools I’ve seen. I’m already a huge fan of the Dyson Supersonic, and I think this colour combination is particularly lovely and it feels every bit as premium as you’d expect from Dyson.

Dyson Supersonic Travel vs Original Dyson Supersonic | Unboxing & First Look

I have filmed an unboxing and comparison video for you. Watch it below:

In the video, I unbox the Dyson Supersonic Travel Hair Dryer and compare it directly with my original Dyson Supersonic, including the size, weight, colour, sound and attachments.

The first thing that surprised me was just how much smaller it is. Dyson says it’s 32% smaller and 25% lighter than the original, and seeing them side by side really highlights the difference.

I also compared it with my Dyson Supersonic Nural, which is the scalp care version. The Nural and original Supersonic are very similar in size, whereas the Travel version feels noticeably more compact and travel-friendly.

Key Features

  • 32% smaller than the original Supersonic
  • 25% lighter at just 331g
  • Universal voltage (100-240V)
  • Three heat settings
  • Two airflow speeds
  • Cool shot
  • Intelligent heat control
  • Magnetic styling concentrator included
  • Compatible with Dyson Supersonic attachments if you already own them (sold separately).
  • 2m cord

Like all of Dyson’s hair tools, the Supersonic Travel features intelligent heat control, which measures the temperature of the airflow to help protect hair from extreme heat damage. Dyson claims this helps maintain hair shine, with the brand promising up to 138% more shine compared to naturally dried hair.

It also comes with a 2 metre cord, which is something I always appreciate. Even though this is designed for travel, Dyson hasn’t compromised on the practical details.

What’s in the Box?

Inside the box we have:

  • Dyson Supersonic Travel Hair Dryer
  • Styling Concentrator
  • Documentation

The first thing I noticed when taking it out of the box was the beautiful Ceramic Pink and Rose Gold finish.

I’ve always loved Dyson’s colour choices, but I think this one is particularly gorgeous. It feels very premium and, despite being smaller, it still has that unmistakable Dyson quality.

The cable is 2 metres long, which is generous for a travel hair dryer and means you don’t feel like you’re compromising on usability. The Styling Concentrator attaches magnetically, just like the original Supersonic attachments.

One thing to note is that the Travel version comes with the Styling Concentrator rather than the full range of attachments you may see included with some Supersonic models. However, your existing Supersonic attachments are compatible, so you can still take your favourites with you.

Dyson Supersonic Travel vs Original: What’s Different?

Feature Original Supersonic Supersonic Travel
Size Full size 32% smaller
Weight Standard 25% lighter
Voltage Single voltage Universal voltage
Attachments Multiple depending on model Styling Concentrator included
Compatibility N/A Compatible with existing Supersonic & Nural attachments
Best for Everyday home use Travel & holidays

Seeing the two dryers side by side really shows how much Dyson has changed the design. The Travel version is noticeably neater and more compact, making it much easier to pack into hand luggage or a suitcase.

One of my favourite discoveries is that your existing Dyson Supersonic attachments work with the Travel dryer too. I hadn’t realised this initially, but it means if you already own attachments such as the diffuser or styling tools, you can take them away with you rather than having to repurchase everything.

The biggest takeaway is that Dyson hasn’t simply shrunk the original. They’ve designed a dedicated travel version that’s lighter, more compact and works internationally thanks to universal voltage.

Dyson Supersonic Travel vs Dyson Supersonic Nural

Dyson Supersonic Travel Hair Dryer vs Supersonic Nural
Dyson Supersonic Travel Hair Dryer vs Supersonic Nural

I also compared the Dyson Supersonic Travel with my Dyson Supersonic Nural, which is Dyson’s newer model featuring scalp protect technology.

The Nural offers additional technology, including features designed around scalp comfort and intelligent styling, whereas the Travel version has been designed specifically with portability in mind.

For me, they serve slightly different purposes, the Nural is my at-home luxury, scalp sensitive dryer, while the Travel is the one I’ll be reaching for when I’m packing a suitcase.

My First Impressions

As someone who has owned and loved the Dyson Supersonic for years, I was really excited to see whether this new Travel version would live up to expectations.

My biggest frustration with the original Supersonic (and Dyson Airwrap for that matter) has always been that I couldn’t take either of them abroad, so the addition of universal voltage is a real game changer. The size difference is also impressive. It fitted into my suitcase so easily and took up noticeably less room than my full-size Dyson, which is exactly what you want from a travel hair dryer.

I did pack the Dyson Supersonic Travel Hair Dryer for my holiday, and while I was away I actually ended up letting my hair dry naturally most days (holiday hair is sometimes all about embracing the relaxed look!). So, I haven’t yet given it the full styling test that I would normally do for a review. I have used it to dry my fringe several times though, and it does it really swiftly. Based on that and the power it delivers, I’m very confident it will do a brilliant job on my full head of hair, but I’ll update this once I’ve given it the full test.

I’m really impressed so far. I love the Ceramic Pink and Rose Gold colourway, the compact size, the lighter weight and the fact that I can use my existing Dyson Supersonic attachments with it.

I’ll be updating this review once I’ve had more time to properly style my hair with it and can share my full thoughts on performance, drying time and the finish it gives.

Who is the Dyson Supersonic Travel Hair Dryer for?

I think this will be a real winner for anyone who travels regularly and doesn’t want to compromise on their hair routine.

It’s particularly suited to:

  • Anyone who already owns and loves the Dyson Supersonic but struggles with taking it abroad
  • Frequent travellers who rely on hotel hair dryers and want something more reliable
  • Anyone with long, thick or coloured hair who needs a powerful dryer
  • Dyson fans who love beautifully designed beauty tools
  • Those who want to save valuable suitcase space without sacrificing performance

If you only travel occasionally and don’t mind using hotel hair dryers, the investment may be harder to justify. But if you’re someone who always packs your favourite hair tools, the universal voltage and compact design are genuinely appealing.

Dyson Supersonic Travel Hair Dryer Pros & Cons

Pros
✔ Universal voltage makes it perfect for international travel
✔ Much smaller and lighter than the original Supersonic
✔ Beautiful Ceramic Pink and Rose Gold finish
✔ Compatible with existing Supersonic attachments
✔ Still feels premium despite the smaller size

Cons
✘ £249.99 is a significant investment for a travel hair dryer
✘ You may not need it if you only travel occasionally
✘ Less suited as a replacement for your main at-home hair dryer

Final Thoughts

My first impression of the Dyson Supersonic Travel Hair Dryer is extremely positive. Dyson has taken everything people love about the Supersonic and created a version that finally solves the biggest problem – travelling with it.

The compact size, universal voltage and compatibility with existing attachments make it a really exciting option for anyone who travels regularly.

I’ll be updating this review once I’ve spent more time styling my hair with it, but as a first look, I think Dyson fans are going to love it.

Larry King Ride or Die Texture Spray Review: My New Hair Styling Essential

I’ve been using the Larry King Ride or Die Texture Spray for several weeks now and it has quickly become one of my most-used styling products. What I love most about it is how it sits somewhere between a dry shampoo, a texturising spray and a lightweight hairspray.

If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ll know that I’m quite particular when it comes to hair products. I don’t wash my hair every day and I absolutely cannot be dealing with anything that leaves my hair feeling sticky, heavy or overloaded with product. The latest addition to my styling lineup is the Larry King Ride or Die Texture Spray, and I can confidently say it has become one of those products that I reach for every single day.

What is Larry King Ride or Die Texture Spray?

What is Larry King Ride or Die Texture Spray?
What is Larry King Ride or Die Texture Spray?

The Larry King Ride or Die Texture Spray is a lightweight styling spray designed to add texture, volume, movement and flexible hold to the hair.

Unlike some traditional texture sprays that can feel dry or gritty, this has a really soft, airy feel. It creates that effortlessly undone texture that makes hair look fuller and more interesting without making it feel overloaded with product.

It’s suitable for all hair types and can be used on freshly washed hair or between washes to revive and refresh your style.

Key Ingredients

Panthenol – Vitamin B5 helps keep hair feeling soft, smooth and manageable while adding moisture and shine. It’s a nice addition in a styling product because it helps counteract the dryness that some texture sprays can create.

Luviskol Plus – This styling polymer helps deliver volume, hold and texture while keeping hair flexible and brushable. It gives the hair structure without making it crunchy or stiff

Dowsil – This ingredient helps absorb excess oil while creating light texture and body. It contributes to the fresh, airy feel that makes this product so easy to use between washes.

I absolutely love this product. The first thing that struck me about the Larry King Ride or Die Texture Spray was how light the mist is. The spray mechanism is excellent and distributes product evenly throughout the hair without ever leaving visible residue.

You know how some texture sprays can leave white marks or patches if you’re not careful? That doesn’t happen with Ride or Die. The formula is incredibly lightweight. You don’t feel like you’ve applied anything, but somehow your hair just looks better.

One of my favourite ways to use the Larry King Ride or Die Texture Spray is on my fringe. It gives it a little extra texture and control and helps it stay where I want it to without looking stiff or sprayed into place. It gives my fringe enough grip and movement to behave itself while still looking soft and natural.

I also use it through the lengths of my hair. It instantly adds movement and separation and helps create that effortless, slightly undone look that I’ve really been loving recently.

What really sets the Larry King Ride or Die Texture Spray apart for me, however, is the lack of buildup. As someone who only washes their hair around once a week, this is hugely important.

Many styling products feel great on day one but become heavy and unpleasant after repeated use. That’s simply not the case with the Larry King Ride or Die Texture Spray. I can use it every day between washes and my hair still feels clean, soft and touchable. It layers beautifully without becoming sticky, crunchy or gunky.

Honestly, that’s probably my favourite thing about it.

The Fragrance

Another thing worth mentioning is the scent. It smells absolutely gorgeous. The fragrance feels sophisticated and luxurious rather than overly sweet or overpowering. It’s a warm, woody fragrance built around notes of smoky cedarwood, soft moss and amber. It’s rounded out with cashmere musks that give it a smooth, soft finish, while subtle smoky accords add depth.

It leaves the hair smelling fresh and expensive without competing with perfume, which I really appreciate.

How I Use Larry King Ride or Die Texture Spray

I’ve been using the Larry King Ride or Die Texture Spray in two different ways:

On Freshly Washed Hair

After styling, I lightly mist it through the mid-lengths and ends to create texture, movement and a more effortless finish.

Between Washes

This is where the Larry King Ride or Die Texture Spray really shines for me. I spray it through my fringe, around the crown and through the lengths of my hair to bring everything back to life. It adds volume and body without making my hair feel dirty or overloaded.

If you are looking for an innovative product to refresh and reset styles in between washes, also check out my Living Proof Style Refresh Mist Review.

Who Should Try Larry King Ride or Die Texture Spray?

I think the this Texture Spray is ideal for:

  • Anyone looking for more volume and movement
  • Those who love effortless, undone hairstyles
  • Fine hair that needs extra body and texture
  • Fringe wearers who need a little extra control
  • Anyone who doesn’t wash their hair daily
  • Those who dislike sticky or crunchy styling products

Is Larry King Ride or Die Texture Spray Worth It?

Without question, yes. This has become one of my most-used hair products because it delivers exactly what I want from a styling spray. It adds texture, movement and volume while remaining completely lightweight in the hair.

The fact that I can use the Larry King Ride or Die Texture Spray every day between washes without experiencing buildup makes it stand out from so many other products in this category.

If you’re looking for a styling product that sits somewhere between a dry shampoo and a hairspray, while giving hair that effortlessly cool, lived-in texture, I highly recommend it.

Overnight Blowout Rods Review (Amazon Find)

Overnight Blowout Rods Review (Amazon Find)

I absolutely love a low-effort hair hack, and this one has quickly become a staple in my routine. I recently discovered these overnight blowout rods on Amazon, and while they’re incredibly affordable, they’ve genuinely impressed me in terms of both design and results.

If you’re into heatless styling or just want an easier way to get that soft, bouncy blowout look and extend time between washes, these are definitely worth knowing about.

What Are Overnight Blowout Rods?

Overnight blowout rods are soft, flexible hair tools designed to create a voluminous, blow-dried effect without using heat.

This particular set comes as a pack of three rods. They’re slim, a really manageable length, and perfect for wrapping the hair either in sections or as a full ponytail. The rods are covered in a soft velvet material, which means they don’t snag or catch on the hair at all.

They also feature a really convenient hook-and-eye fastening system, so you can secure them easily without needing extra clips or grips.

As a nice added extra, they come with a silk-style scarf, which is ideal if you want to protect your hair while you sleep.

How I Use Overnight Blowout Rods

I’ve actually found my own way of using these, and it’s made them even more practical.

Overnight Blowout Rod In Place - top of head
Overnight Blowout Rod In Place – top of head

Instead of using all three rods, I tend to use just one and create a “unicorn ponytail” right at the top/front of my head.

From there, I either:

  • Wrap the ponytail directly around the rod, or
  • Lightly curl the hair first and then wrap it

Once it’s wrapped, I secure it so the bun sits right on the very top of my head.

Overnight Blowout Rods - Ponytail technique
Overnight Blowout Rods – Ponytail technique

This is a complete game-changer for comfort because:

  • There’s nothing pressing into my head while I sleep
  • It doesn’t touch the pillow at all
  • I can lie completely flat without anything bothering me

It’s also really practical during the day. I can wear it for Peloton or Pilates and it stays totally out of the way.

How I Use These to Extend Time Between Washes

One of the biggest benefits I’ve found with these overnight blowout rods is how they help me stretch my hair between washes.

Instead of reaching for heat tools to revive my style, I can just wrap my hair up in the evening and wake up with refreshed volume and movement.

I’ve been pairing them with the Living Proof Style Refresh Mist, which I’ve also been testing recently, and the combination works really well. I’ll lightly mist the hair before wrapping, which helps to reactivate the style and gives a bit of added polish and bounce.

What I love about this approach is that it feels much gentler on my hair. I’m not piling on heat day after day, and I’m still getting that soft, “done” finish that makes everything feel more put together.

It’s become a really easy way to get an extra day (or two) out of my hair without it looking flat or tired.

Overnight Blowout Rods - End Result
Overnight Blowout Rods – End Result

I’ve been testing these overnight blowout rods for a while now, and once I found my preferred way to use them, they quickly became a really handy part of my routine.

Here’s a full breakdown of how they perform:

Design & Ease of Use

These are really well thought out for such an affordable product.

The rods are soft, flexible and easy to bend into shape, which makes wrapping the hair very straightforward. I especially like the velvet covering. It means there’s no snagging or pulling, and everything feels very gentle on the hair.

The hook-and-eye fastening system is also a nice touch. It makes securing the rod quick and fuss-free, without needing extra grips or clips.

Comfort (Especially for Sleeping)

This is where they really stand out for me. Because I use just one rod and position it right on top of my head, I can sleep completely comfortably. There’s nothing pressing into my scalp or interfering with the pillow, which is something I personally can’t tolerate.

It also means I can lie flat, turn over easily, and not even notice it’s there.

Results & Finish

The finish you get really depends on how you use them. Using one rod (my preferred method) gives a soft, bouncy, blown-out look. It’s more about volume and movement than tight curls, which makes it perfect for everyday wear.

If you use all three rods and section the hair, you can achieve a much more defined, curlier result. It’s nice to have that flexibility depending on the look you want.

I also find it’s a great way to revive my hair the next day, which really helps extend time between washes without needing heat styling.

Versatility

I love that you’re not limited to one technique with these.

You can:

  • Wrap a full ponytail for a loose blowout effect
  • Section the hair for tighter curls
  • Use them on damp or dry hair depending on the finish you want

They’re also practical beyond just overnight use. I’ve worn mine while exercising and it stays completely out of the way.

Value for Money

This is one of the biggest selling points. They’re incredibly affordable, especially considering you get three rods plus a scarf included. It feels like a very low-risk purchase, and the quality is genuinely better than you might expect at this price point.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I think these overnight blowout rods are a brilliant little find. They’re easy to use, comfortable (when styled the right way), and give a really soft, voluminous finish without any heat. For the price, they’re a very worthwhile addition to any hair routine.

Do Overnight Blowout Rods Really Work?

Yes, especially if you’re looking for a soft, voluminous, heatless finish.

They won’t give you super tight curls unless you use them in sections, but for that effortless, bouncy blow-dry look, they work really well, and without any heat damage.

Are They Worth It?

If you’re into heatless styling or just want a simpler way to achieve a blowout look, I think these overnight blowout rods are well worth trying.

They’ve become a really easy, reliable option in my routine, and I love how low-effort they are for the results they give.

FAQs

Can you sleep in overnight blowout rods comfortably?

Yes, especially if you place them on the top of your head like I do. That makes a huge difference in comfort.

Do you have to use all three rods?

No, not at all. I mostly use just one for a softer, more relaxed blowout effect.

Do overnight blowout rods work on damp or dry hair?

Both:
Damp hair = more hold and definition.
Dry hair = softer, looser results.

How long do the results last?

For me, they last all day, especially if I start with a bit of styling product.

Can overnight blowout rods help extend time between washes?

Yes, they’re great for refreshing volume and shape without using heat. I like to pair them with a lightweight styling mist to revive the hair and make it feel freshly styled again.

The Wash Day Problem

Let’s talk about the reality of hair routines for a moment. If you are anything like me, wash day can feel like quite a bit of a commitment. Between washing, drying and styling, it can easily take an hour or more.

Dry shampoo has been the hero product for years when it comes to extending time between washes. It’s brilliant at refreshing the roots and absorbing oil, however, dry shampoo doesn’t really address the mid-lengths and ends. By day three or four, hair can start to look a bit frizzy and dry, and lose its shape. And that’s exactly the gap the Living Proof Style Refresh Mist is designed to fill.

Living Proof have always positioned themselves as experts when it comes to in-between wash solutions, and this new product takes that idea a step further by helping revive the whole style, not just the roots.

What is the Living Proof Style Refresh Mist?

What is Living Proof Style Refresh Mist?
What is Living Proof Style Refresh Mist?

The Living Proof Style Refresh Mist is a brand new styling product designed to revive and reshape hair between wash days.

At the heart of the formula is the Style Refresh Complex, which combines amino acids and polypeptides to help reset the hair’s hydrogen bonds, allowing the hair to be reshaped and refreshed without needing to fully wash and restyle.

It’s designed to bring hair back to life quickly, helping you refresh your style in minutes rather than starting from scratch.

Key Benefits

  • Reshapes, refreshes and redefines hair
  • Smooths frizz and flyaways
  • Adds “just washed” softness and shine
  • Neutralises odour and keeps hair smelling fresh
  • Provides lightweight hydration
  • Heat protection up to 232°C for quick styling touch-ups

Formula Highlights

The formula is:

  • Silicone-free
  • Sulfate-free
  • PETA-certified cruelty-free
  • Safe for colour-treated and keratin-treated hair

How to Refresh Hair Without Washing

If you are trying to extend the life of your hairstyle, refreshing your hair without washing can make a huge difference. The key is to tackle both the roots and the lengths rather than relying on dry shampoo alone.

Using a product like the Living Proof Style Refresh Mist through the mid-lengths and ends helps revive the shape of your style, smooth frizz and bring back that freshly styled feel without needing to fully wash and blow dry your hair again.

When paired with a good dry shampoo at the roots, it becomes a really quick and easy way to stretch your blow dry for several extra days.

The Power Duo Routine: How I’ve Been Using It

One of the easiest ways to use the Style Refresh Mist is as part of a simple two-step refresh routine.

Step 1: Dry Shampoo at the Roots

Start with Living Proof Advanced Clean Dry Shampoo, focusing on the roots to remove oil, sweat and any build-up.

Step 2: Style Refresh Mist Through Lengths

Spray the Style Refresh Mist through the mid-lengths and ends to revive the style and smooth out dents or creases.

The two products work beautifully together because they tackle different areas of the hair.

If I want a bit more shape, I might quickly go over a few sections with my Dyson Airwrap, but the whole process takes less than ten minutes, which is amazing compared to a full restyle. You could also allow the mist to dry, and quickly tong a few sections

It’s perfect for those mornings where your hair isn’t looking its best but you really don’t have the time to wash and start again.

Living Proof report that 100% of consumers agree this duo helps extend styles between wash days.

Living Proof Style Refresh Mist Review

Living Proof Style Refresh Mist Review
Living Proof Style Refresh Mist Review

After using the Living Proof Style Refresh Mist for several weeks, I can honestly say it’s one of those products that I didn’t realise I needed until I started using it.

The first thing I noticed was how lightweight the formula is. It doesn’t feel sticky or heavy at all. Instead it leaves the hair feeling soft, smooth and refreshed.

Removing Hair Creases

One of my favourite ways to use it is for removing hair tie dents. If I’ve had my hair up in a bun or ponytail, I just mist a little through the lengths and brush through and the crease disappears.

Frizz Control

By day three or four my hair often starts to look more coarse and dry through the mid-lengths. The Style Refresh Mist smooths everything down and helps bring the style back together again so the whole look feels more polished. It smooths the hair without making it heavy or greasy, and it adds just enough softness and movement to make hair feel styled again rather than just “surviving” another day before washing.

Freshening the Hair

Another thing I really like is the way it neutralises any odours that can happen a few days post-wash. It freshens everything up and makes the hair feel hydrated and soft.

I just really like how versatile it is. It’s great for refreshing a blow dry, smoothing out those annoying hair bobble creases and for tidying everything up when my hair starts looking a bit messy.

Overall, the Living Proof Style Refresh Mist has become one of those quick styling shortcuts that makes it much easier to extend a blow dry without needing to fully wash and restyle your hair.

Before & After Results – Photos

I have been testing the Living Proof Style Refresh Mist mainly on day three and day four hair, which is usually when my blow dry starts to lose its shape.

Before using it, my hair tends to look a little flat at the roots and slightly messy through the mid-lengths and ends. Even when I use dry shampoo, the lengths can still feel a bit tired.

After using the Style Refresh Mist through the mid-lengths and ends, my hair instantly looks more polished again. It smooths everything out and brings the style back to life without making the hair feel heavy or sticky.

If I run a round brush through a few sections after applying it, it genuinely looks like I’ve spent much longer styling my hair than I actually have. It’s a really easy way to refresh your style in under ten minutes instead of starting from scratch again.

In the before and after photos below, this was actually done on day 6 or 7!! And the Style Refresh Mist still managed to get my hair looking good!

Before: Living Proof Style Refresh Mist
Before: Living Proof Style Refresh Mist
After: Living Proof Style Refresh Mist
After: Living Proof Style Refresh Mist

Who is Living Proof Style Refresh Mist Best For?

It’s particularly great for:

  • Anyone who wants their blow dry to last longer
  • Hair that gets frizzy through the mid-lengths and ends
  • Wavy hair types that can lose shape after a few days
  • Refreshing hair quickly on busy mornings
  • Fixing bobble or bun creases

I think this product will work for quite a wide range of hair types, especially if you like to stretch your blow dries between washes.

Because it’s lightweight and versatile, it doesn’t feel like a heavy styling product. Instead, it just helps your hair look more polished and refreshed again.

Final Thoughts

The best way I can describe the Living Proof Style Refresh Mist is that it fills the gap that dry shampoo alone can’t quite solve.

Dry shampoo refreshes the roots, but the lengths often need extra help to look polished again. This mist brings everything back together so your hair looks styled again rather than just surviving another day before washing.

The Blow Dry Extending Trio

If you want to really maximise the life of your style, I think the dream combination is:

• Living Proof Advanced Clean Dry Shampoo
• Living Proof Style Refresh Mist
• Living Proof Flex Hairspray

The Flex Hairspray is another favourite of mine because it gives hold without making the hair stiff or overly matte. It also has heat protection and leaves hair looking healthy and touchable, which I really love.

Living Proof Style Refresh Mist Launch Date & Exclusive Offer

The Living Proof Style Refresh Mist launches on 27th March, but I wanted to give you this early look because I think it’s a product a lot of people are going to find really useful once they discover it.

This isn’t a new launch, but it’s a product I’ve wanted to try for ages. I’d heard so many good things about it, especially for heat styling, but it always seemed to be sold out whenever I looked. Now I’ve finally been able to test it properly, I can absolutely see why it’s so popular.

If you’re searching for a flexible hairspray with heat protection that actually helps styles last (without crunch), this one is definitely worth your attention.

What Is Living Proof Style Lab Flex Hairspray?

The Living Proof Style Lab Flex Hairspray is a multi‑tasking, medium‑hold hairspray designed to be used both before and after heat styling. Unlike traditional hairsprays that are purely for finishing, this formula works as a styling primer, helping to enhance hold, shape and longevity when using hot tools.

The key promise here is flexible control – hair should stay in place while still feeling soft, touchable and natural.

Key Claims & Benefits

Here’s what Living Proof says this hairspray can do:

  • Provides medium, flexible hold
  • Heat protection for use with hot tools
  • Helps styles, curls and waves last longer
  • Can be used on dry or damp hair
  • Leaves hair brushable and re‑workable
  • No sticky or crispy finish

On paper, it ticks a lot of boxes – especially if you heat style regularly.

How I Use It

I tend to use the Style Lab Flex Hairspray in two ways:

1. As a Heat Styling Primer

This is where it really shines for me. I lightly mist it through dry hair before using curling tongs or a straightener. It gives the hair a bit of grip, which makes a huge difference to how well curls and waves hold. This noticeably extends the life of curls and movement without making hair feel coated or heavy.

I’ve been using it a lot when styling my hair with the BaByliss Style Secret Air, which I’ve reviewed here on ReallyRee, and it makes a noticeable difference to how well the curls and waves hold. The combination of warm air, airflow and this hairspray means my styles have more grip and last much longer than with just a heat protectant alone.

2. To Set and Finish

After styling, I use a light mist to set everything in place. What I love is that hair never feels stiff – you can still run your fingers through it, and it keeps that soft, modern finish rather than a “done” look.

Does It Make Hair Crispy or Sticky?

This is always my biggest question with hairspray, and I’m happy to report that it doesn’t.

The finish is:

  • Not crunchy
  • Not sticky
  • Not tacky

Instead, hair feels flexible and natural, which makes it ideal if you like movement or want to restyle throughout the day.

Heat Protection & Styling Performance

One of the biggest selling points of this product is that it offers heat protection, making it a great option if you regularly use hot tools.

What I particularly like is that it doesn’t feel like a traditional heat protectant spray, which can sometimes weigh hair down or feel greasy. This one is light, fine and evenly distributed, and it genuinely helps styles hold their shape for longer.

If you’re looking for a high‑performance hairspray for heat styling, this really delivers.

Texture, Finish & Scent

  • Texture: Ultra‑fine mist
  • Finish: Soft, flexible, natural
  • Scent: Clean and fresh (noticeable on application, but not overpowering)

It layers well and doesn’t build up in a way that makes hair feel dull or overloaded.

Who Is It Best For?

I’d particularly recommend the Living Proof Style Lab Flex Hairspray if:

  • You heat style your hair regularly
  • Your curls or waves tend to drop quickly
  • You want hold without stiffness
  • You prefer a modern, touchable finish
  • You like products that do more than one job

It works well across hair types, but I think fine to medium hair will especially appreciate the flexible hold.

FAQs

Is Living Proof Style Lab Flex Hairspray a heat protectant?

Yes. This hairspray offers heat protection, which makes it ideal to use before curling, straightening or blow-drying. It works particularly well as a priming spray before hot tools, helping styles hold their shape for longer while protecting the hair.

Does Living Proof Style Lab Flex Hairspray make hair crunchy?

No. One of the standout features of this product is that it never leaves hair crispy, sticky or stiff. The hold is flexible and brushable, so hair still feels soft and natural.

Can you use this hairspray on damp hair?

Yes. It can be used on both damp and dry hair, which makes it very versatile. I personally prefer it on dry hair before heat styling, but it also works well layered into damp hair before blow-drying.

Is it suitable for fine hair?

Yes. The mist is very fine and lightweight, so it doesn’t weigh hair down. Fine to medium hair types will particularly appreciate the flexible hold and natural finish.

Ingredient Notes

Flexible Web Technology

At the heart of the formula is Living Proof’s Flexible Web Technology which is a blend of firm and flexible polymers. This technology allows the hairspray to be used on damp or dry hair, delivering multi-styling benefits while maintaining a medium, flexible hold.

What this means in real terms is better shape memory when heat styling, improved longevity of curls and waves, and hair that still feels natural and touchable.

Conditioning Emollient

The formula also contains a conditioning emollient, which helps to soften the hair and prevent that dry, coated feeling that traditional hairsprays can leave behind. This is key to why the finish stays flexible rather than stiff.

Vitamin B5

Vitamin B5 (Panthenol) helps support hair condition by adding light hydration and enhancing shine, so hair looks healthy even after heat styling and setting.

As with most hairsprays, alcohol is present to allow the product to dry quickly and evenly, but the overall balance of the formula helps prevent hair from feeling dry or brittle.

Final Thoughts

The Living Proof Style Lab Flex Hairspray is one of those products that quietly becomes essential. It’s not about dramatic hold or extreme styling but I think it’s about making your hair behave better.

For me, it’s the combination of heat protection, enhanced style longevity and flexible finish that makes it stand out. If you want your curls and waves to last without sacrificing softness, this is an excellent option.

A really solid choice if you’re looking for a flexible hairspray with heat protection that actually works.
