Texture & Formula: Creamy with a Fresh Mint Kick

The first thing you notice when applying Glossier Lip Glaze is the texture. It’s creamy yet lightweight, giving lips that smooth, balmy cushion without any of the tackiness that can ruin a good gloss.

There’s a definite minty tingle, which feels cooling and fresh but never overwhelming. It’s that perfect middle ground between invigorating and comfortable. If you’re sensitive to mint, don’t worry, it’s not a stinger, just a subtle cooling effect. If you hate mint, it’s worth noting that the minty feeling is quite long lasting, so these may not be for you.

Shades & Sheerness: Easy to Wear Everyday Tints

Each shade in the Lip Glaze range is incredibly sheer, which makes them super flattering and versatile. These aren’t bold pigment-heavy glosses. They’re sheer washes that enhance your natural lip tone and layer over liner or lipstick if you want more punch.

Featured Shade: “Icy”: A Nostalgic Favourite

Icy is the pale blue-toned clear gloss that has my heart. It immediately reminded me of the first-ever gloss I bought from Benefit years ago. It was a translucent gloss that promised to make your teeth look whiter. That one’s been long discontinued, but “Icy” brings back all that glossy nostalgia in a modern, hydrating formula.

Though it looks blue in the tube, it applies mostly clear, adding a subtle cool tone. A great throwback moment for me!

Finish & Wear: Glossy, Plumping Look Without Stickiness

The finish is plump, juicy, and glassy. There’s no shimmer just a jelly-like shine that wears well for a gloss. It does fades after eating or drinking but reapplication is quick and easy, and actually feels good because it boosts hydration each time you swipe it on.

Hydration & Comfort: Like Skincare for Lips

If your lips are often dry but you hate sticky formulas, Glossier Lip Glaze is a win. It feels moisturising without slipping off, and while it doesn’t replace your lip balm entirely, it definitely adds a hydrating layer throughout the day.

I’d say it feels more like a gloss than a lip oil, but still manages to keep the lips feeling soft.

Who Should Try It?

Glossier Lip Glaze is perfect for anyone who wants a subtle, wearable gloss with a bit of extra care built in. It’s not for those looking for bold pigment, but if you love a “your lips but better” vibe with a fresh twist, this is it.

I am definitely in my lip liner era, so I was interested to try out the Rhode Peptide Lip Shape now that it has launched in the UK. Here’s what you need to know.

What is Rhode Peptide Lip Shape?

This is a lip liner designed to be easier to use than a regular lip liner:

How to use it

Use this like a regular liner and glide Peptide Lip Shape along the outline of your lips. You can use the silicone smudger to diffuse the colour or tidy up any smudges. It’s also easy to fill the whole lip area if you want to use it more like a lipstick.

My Review of Rhode Peptide Lip Shape

When I heard Rhode was launching a peptide-infused lip liner, I was instantly intrigued. Here’s everything you need to know.

Rhode Peptide Lip Shape is designed to be a new generation lip liner to sculpt and nourish the lips.

Shade Tested: Lunge

I tested the Lunge shade which is described as a rosy beige and I think it’s a super flattering nude. What’s really nice about this product is that it the shade strikes a good balance as it defines without overpowering the lips, and works both as a base under balm or all over as a modern matte lip.

Application & Texture

The formula glides on really nicely with no dragging and it has creamy precision but with a slight grip that helps it last. While it doesn’t feel dry, I don’t think it feels overly hydrating, but I think this helps it last more as it’s not slippery. It’s definitely a product that I feel I need to pair with a balm or gloss.

Final Thoughts

I have to say, I do like this lip pencil. The shade Lunge is really nice and I think it will go well with a range of my lip colours and glosses. It lasts well, feels comfortable and is easy to reapply. It’s in my makeup bag and staying there.

One Thing I’m Not Sure About

The silicone smudger. Rhode’s Lip Shape pencil comes with a built-in silicone tip for blending, which I wanted to love but I’m still a bit on the fence.

What is Rhode Peptide Lip Shape Silicone Smudger

It’s meant to help blur out the edges for that soft, diffused lip look (very Hailey), but in practice I’m not really sure it adds much. It feels a little gimmicky, especially when my finger does the same job. It’s a cute idea, but maybe not essential.

That said, if you’re someone who hates getting product on your hands, you might appreciate the tool. Just not a game-changer for me.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

Creamy, glide-on texture
Flattering, versatile shades
Skincare bonus – peptides

Cons

Silicone smudger feels a bit gimmicky – nice in theory, but not very effective in practice
Not transfer-proof – wears off softly, but will need reapplying after meals
Not overly hydrating worn alone

My Review

I really like the Charlotte Tilbury lipstick formulations. Both the Matte Revolution and the K.I.S.S.I.N.G textures are lovely and both are easy to apply and wear.

The Matte Revolution is a creamy matte that doesn’t dry out on your lips, and the K.I.S.S.I.N.G formula is soft and juicy and leaves a very pretty glow.

Dream Talk, when I first saw it, really reminded me of the CT Shade The Queen (swatches here) but it’s a lot less pink than The Queen and more of a deep wine shade. It’s really nice. It also reminds me of Opium Noir (see that here), but it’s softer and less deep.

Love Talk is quite a unique red I think. It is described as a Strawberry red and it’s one I’m excited to try when I am ready to commit to a red lip!

The sheeny K.I.S.S.I.N.G shades are obviously the easier ones to wear because the formula and finish is all about that totally effortless feel. I am a big fan of Naughty Talk (see above), although I hate the cringy name! It’s a very pretty neutral nude and just gives the lips a lovely glow.

Kiss Talk is another pretty shade. A soft yet fresh pink that will be great for really enlivening the complexion.

This is a really lovely collection but I think that Naughty Talk will be the big hit out of them all.

My Review

I love the Phyto-Rouge range from Sisley Paris and this soft matte version is a gorgeous addition.

The Formula

This is a hydrating and long-wearing formula and each shade is intensely pigmented. The lipstick has a lightweight feel and it feels super comfortable on the lips. Lots of matte formulas tend to be a touch drying, but I have to say, this is potentially one of the most comfortable mattes I’ve worn. You get that modern, diffused velvet finish without any dryness.

The Packaging

As you’d expect from Sisley, the packaging is really luxurious. The lipstick comes in a stunning gold and zebra-print case which is super so chic, and it has a lovely magnetic closure, which always makes me happy. It’s one of those lipsticks you’ll be proud to pull out of your handbag. Plus, like many of Sisley’s lipsticks, Phyto-Rouge Velvet is refillable.

The Shades

Sisley Paris Phyto-Rouge Velvet Lipstick comes in 12 shades. I love the three I have, and the full range includes some gorgeous nudes, bright pinks, oranges and reds. There’s something for everyone here. As a nude lover, shade 10 Beige Nude is my favourite.

Performance

I have been wearing 10 Beige Nude and it stays in place really well. It does fade slightly after eating, but it wears down evenly, leaving a soft, stained effect. There’s no flaking or dryness and my lips stay feeling really comfortable.

My Review

MERIT Beauty Signature Lip Liner - Beverly Hills, Bespoke and Coupe — MERIT Beauty Signature Lip Liner – Beverly Hills, Bespoke and Coupe

As you would expect from MERIT, these liner are really good. I love the packaging. I love that there’s a twist up mechanism PLUS a sharpener, and I love how easy they are to use.

Application and Formula

MERIT are all about the minimalist approach and this liner definitely embodies that. As the name would suggest, the pigmentation is sheer, so it’s pretty hard to go wrong with it. The rounded tip is a departure from traditional lip liners, and it means you can’t create any harsh line. It’s all about a more forgiving application process.

The liner has a lovely glidey texture. Colour pay off is sheer and so you can build it up to create the look you want. I recommend that you ensure your lips are clean of any product that’s too emollient, or you may struggle to build up any colour.

The formula feels nice and hydrating and you can use it over the whole lip area if you wish and it stays feeling really comfortable.

Shade Range

MERIT offers eight neutral shades, catering to a variety of skin tones and preferences. The three shades I have – Beverly Hills, Bespoke and Coupe – are all really easy to wear, making it pretty hard to pick a favourite.
