When it comes to daily skincare, a reliable sunscreen is non-negotiable. Finding one that offers broad-spectrum protection without compromising on comfort, however, can be challenging. Enter the Bioderma Photoderm XDefense Ultra Fluid SPF50+ Invisible, a lightweight, high-performance formula designed not only to shield against UV damage but also to protect skin from pollution and environmental aggressors.

An ultra-lightweight, fluid SPF50 facial sunscreen offering advanced high protection.
Make sure you give the bottle a good shake before using it. You won’t be able to do the 3 finger method with this formula as it is too fluid, but make sure you use a sufficient amount. I pool it into the palm of my hand and then apply from there. Even a generous amount sinks in effortlessly.

I have been getting on really well with this and it’s pretty much a no-brainer. There are lots of mineral sunscreens around right now, but this one is a chemical (organic filter) sunscreen, which means it provides broad-spectrum protection by absorbing UV rays rather than reflecting them, making it lightweight and invisible on the skin.

One of the standout qualities of this product is its ultra-fluid, watery texture that glides effortlessly across the skin, absorbing almost instantly. It feels practically weightless and is so thin, it’s as though nothing has been applied and it leaves no visible residue. The finish is non-greasy and softly matte, ideal for those against traditional, heavier sunscreens.
Importantly, this is a chemical (organic filter) sunscreen. Instead of creating a physical barrier on the skin (as mineral sunscreens do), it uses advanced chemical UV filters to absorb and neutralise UV rays. This technology is what allows the formula to remain so invisible and elegant on the skin.
Despite its ultra-light feel, the formula delivers up to 8 hours of hydration and maintains a soft mattifying effect throughout the day, a rare combination in sun protection.

Formulated to be non-comedogenic and suitable for all skin types, this sunscreen is an excellent match even for sensitive or reactive complexions. Dermatologically tested, it also holds up well around the delicate eye area.
Pros:
The Bioderma Photoderm X-Defense Ultra-Fluid SPF50 Invisible has an exceptionally fluid, weightless texture that feels almost like water on the skin. It blends in instantly with an invisible, soft matte finish, leaving no white cast or residue. The broad-spectrum protection is comprehensive, guarding against UVA, UVB, visible light, infrared, and pollution. It also delivers up to eight hours of hydration while keeping excess shine at bay, and it works beautifully as a makeup base.
Cons:
The formula does contain fragrance, which may not be ideal for those with very sensitive skin or fragrance allergies. Like all sunscreens, it requires reapplication every two hours, particularly after swimming or sweating, to maintain its full protective benefits.

It doesn’t work quite so well under makeup but it’s super light and comfortable, and great if you need a product you can be super liberal with, without breaking the bank.
The Bioderma Photoderm X-Defense Ultra-Fluid SPF50 Invisible is a chemical (organic filter) sunscreen. It uses modern filters to absorb and neutralise UV rays, which allows for its ultra-light, invisible texture.
No. Its invisible finish makes it suitable for all skin tones, with no white film or residue.
Absolutely not. It offers a dry-touch, non-greasy feel while still hydrating.
Yes. Its silky, mattifying texture makes it an excellent base for foundation and daily makeup.
Up to 8 hours of hydration, along with mattifying benefits.
Yes. It’s non-comedogenic, lightly fragranced, and well-tolerated around the eyes. Sensitive-skin users may wish to patch-test.
The Bioderma Photoderm X-Defense Ultra-Fluid SPF50+ Invisible offers a rare trifecta: exceptional protection, ultra-light comfort, and a sophisticated, invisible finish suitable for daily wear.

Daily SPF is something I take very seriously. It is the cornerstone of my skincare routine, and I never miss it. For that reason, I am always interested in formulas that not only protect but also make it easy to use. Like most people, I find reapplication a challenge and so when I was introduced to Klira The Dayscript which promises 8 hours of sun protection in one application at an event earlier this summer, I was eager to try it. Here’s what you need to know.

This is Klira’s latest innovation: a 7-in-1 targeted daily skincare treatment with SPF50 PA++++. It is described as an all-in-one daytime skincare solution. Rather than layering multiple products, it has been formulated to meet the skin’s daytime biological needs in a single application.
It combines:
Crucially, this is not a generic formula. It is tailored to your SkinSize profile, identified via an online consultation, ensuring you receive the precise formulation that aligns with your skin’s needs.
Daytime is when the skin is most exposed to stressors such as UV rays, pollution, and oxidative damage. It is also when DNA repair enzymes are at their most active, and antioxidant defences are in demand.
The Dayscript is designed to map directly onto this daytime molecular profile, supporting:
This intelligent design places it in a category beyond a conventional daily SPF.

I have been testing it over the past few months, and here are my considered thoughts.
I trialled The Dayscript from a plain sample tube, which made the experience feel almost like testing a secret prototype.
The texture is lightweight and smooth, blending easily without leaving residue, pilling, or a white cast. It feels hydrating, yet weightless, and crucially, it sits beautifully beneath makeup. In fact, it functions very effectively as a primer, helping foundation to apply evenly and last longer.

I generally apply two layers, three pumps each, which provides ample coverage. Knowing that the encapsulated sunscreen technology is delivering up to 8 hours of protection gives me enormous peace of mind, especially on days when reapplication isn’t practical. Game changer!!

Klira’s original launch was a one-step night treatment. While I admire the innovation, I must admit I found it difficult to embrace. I enjoy the ritual of layering different treatments at night, and the Klira night formula did not feel sufficient for my skin’s hydration needs.
The Dayscript, however, is entirely different. It is practical, protective, and perfectly suited to mornings, particularly when time is short. This is the product from Klira that I can genuinely integrate into my lifestyle.
The Dayscript can be purchased individually, but Klira recommends the auto-replenish subscription. This ensures you receive a fresh formulation each month (potency is prioritised) and gives you access to Klira’s Dermatology Team for ongoing support. Subscriptions also provide a cost saving, which makes sense for a product designed for daily use.
I have really enjoyed using this over the summer and here are my summarised thoughts on it:
Although I still enjoy experimenting with other product combinations, on long days out, particularly in the sun, this is the formula I prioritise.
A 7-in-1 daily skincare product combining SPF50, antioxidants, peptides, hydration, and primer-like benefits in one step.
Klira The Dayscript offer up to 8 hours of UVA/UVB protection, thanks to encapsulated sunscreen technology. Reapplication is only required after swimming or heavy perspiration.
Yes. It is designed to replace serum, moisturiser, primer, and SPF in a single application.
You complete an online consultation that determines your SkinSize. Klira then prescribes the formulation that best meets your profile.
First of all it provides all day UV protection, but beyond that, it actively supports the skin’s daytime biology, delivering antioxidant defence, mitochondrial support, and collagen maintenance.
For me, Klira The Dayscript represents a genuine step forward in intelligent, dermatologist-designed skincare. It streamlines the morning routine without compromise, provides reliable long-lasting protection, and enhances the performance of makeup.
It is rare to find a product that feels both practical and sophisticated. The Dayscript achieves this balance, and I can see it becoming indispensable for those who value efficiency, efficacy, and for anyone that wants to reapply sunscreen but find it really hard to do that!
If this isn’t quite what you are looking for but you are after a good SPF that works really well under makeup, check out my La Roche‑Posay Anthelios UVAIR Daily SPF50+ Review.
Klira The Dayscript is £66 per month on auto-replenish, and £82 as a one off purchase. Shop via the link below:
